A tad stressed...

I'm a bit stressed today.

Sean failed his second PT test in a row this morning and things are not looking good for him. He was well above average on his sit-ups and push-ups, but failed his run by ten seconds. That's exactly what happened last time.

Now, after getting a counciling statement, he is going through the beginning stages of possibly getting discharged because of this. He's already been put on no-jump status, which means we are already going to start getting less pay since he can't jump.

If he doesn't pass this next PT test then it's going to be really bad, it's actually up in the air right now if we are even going to go to Italy. I hate not knowing what's going to happen and I find it a bit ridiculous that this whole situation is even a big deal.

Please pray that he passes his next test and all this will be taken care of. I know we could make it if he was discharged, but I don't even want to think of that and how hard it's going to be.

Ohh that is really stressful! I am so so sorry! Hopefully he will find a way to shave off those 10 seconds and quick!

I don't know what those initials mean but I hope it works out for yall in the way you need it too.

BTW--the house in my header is Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, LA. It is on River Road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. If you look on my blog on the right side there are links to my previous posts and one of them is on the River Road Plantations. You really should go visit it--it is amazingly beautiful.

Some people just aren't runners. Our roommate is in GREAT shape but he's never been able to run. Even in basic training he failed his PT run.

Then you've got these itty bitty scrawny guys who couldn't lift a ten pound weight over their heads but can run for 2 miles in 10.5 seconds. Okay, so that may be an exageration but what I'm saying is, I hate that!

You and Sean will definetly be in my thoughts and prayers.

My hubby's been there and done that several times. The run's always been tough on him. He started doing interval training (running on a treadmill, he runs 1/4 mile at a fast pace, say 7 minute/mile pace, then he'll run 1/4 at an 8 minute/mile pace (easy to do on a treadmill since you can control your speed). If you run intervals on the road, use landmarks (like two phone poles) and sprint between them. Everyone I know who uses this technique picks up a few seconds.

And the other thing...tell him to push all the way through, no matter what, and not to talk down to himself saying he can't make it. It's the toughest thing in the world to be in that position. And as a spouse who has gone through it (I can think of at least THREE solid times where this has been an issue for us), the most you can be is supportive. Tell him an experienced soldier suggested the interval training... ;-)

And he'll be fine (and I'll be praying)

That is so frustrating! I will be keeping him in my thoughts for the next PT test!
