The Great Christmas Tree Disaster

In case you don't know, I'm obsessed with Christmas and the holiday season in general. There's something about that time of year that I just love.

One of my favorite things about Christmas is putting up the tree. When we PCS'd from Polk, my tree didn't make it in our shipment and so it was left with friends. They never mailed it to me, so last year I went in search of a new tree. I found a perfect one at Hobby Lobby and told my parents just to ship it to me this year. Then I found out the cheapest shipping price for a box that size was $250. Um..no thanks!

So, after three years of not being able to put up my own tree, I am determined that I am going to get a tree and put it up.

I think I found the perfect tree! It's from Wal-Mart and the shipping is less than $10. It's the perfect height too- 7.5 feet and all the reviews have been great. It's also less than $80.00.

I'm so excited to put up my own tree this year!

This breaks my heart. I would've made one out of vinyl or butcher paper to tape up on the wall.

Oh my thank you for this post. A BIG thank you! I love real trees but the one we got here last year was really expensive and horrid! So, I was going to suck it up and get a fake one, first time never being around a real one. However, all the ones on base are pitiful. Off to order one from Wal-mart. I have not looked online because I figured no one would ship. I could kiss your pretty little toes! Haha! Ok, that was weird but seriously, fabtastic!

I LOVE Christmas too and I can't wait for Mr. F and I to have our first Christmas together! I want to get a tree asap and I'm even considering having my mom ship my ornament collections out here. We are sticking around DC for the holidays and inviting other orphaned soldiers over for dinner.
Oh, and I hope you guys are holding out OK in the floods, it looks crazy in Vicenza!

We're staying home for the first time this year (instead of going to see our families) and I'm SO excited. I know it will be hard to be away from those we love but I just can't help but be happy that we're finally going to have a chance to do things our own way and be home at our own place this year. :)

I can't wait until the day I can put up a tree in our house. We've only been able to do it once in the nine years we've been together, and that was our first year of marriage....eeek!
