I'm sure some of my longtime readers will remember in past posts where I've said I'm not a runner. I'm not. At all.
I've worked on the Couch to 5K program off and on for the past 2 years and have yet to complete it. Something always comes up, a trip, an illness, a move and so I never finish, but last week I started again and this time I will finish it.
My motivation? This:
I'm going to be registering for it as soon as it opens. Hopefully in the next seven weeks I can train to run 3 miles.
Is it sad that I'm most excited about the free t-shirt?

Ha, I've heard about this before. :) I'm not a runner either, and donuts aren't really my siren song, but kudos to you for doing it!
Good luck! I'm in week 8 of the C25K and it feels so good to have made it this far. If a 30 year old new mom can do it so can you!
GO YOU! Signing up for an event is how I finally made it over the hurdle of just working out to training for something. Having motivation will definitely help!
Too fun!!! I love donuts :)
There is nothing wrong with a free shirt...especially if there is a donut on the shirt. However I am pretty sure if the word "run" is on the same shirt as a donut, it will make for a great conversational piece!
We can cheer each other on! I just signed up for my first 5K and am doing the C25K program. Mine is in 8 weeks and there is a wine tasting after it, hence why I chose this race. Good luck!
That's not sad at all! The free t-shirt is the best part!
I think MG did this and said after the run she didn't even want the donuts. Effective way to keep you healthy I guess! haha!
I'm on week 4 of the training right now and repeating it because I'm such a bad runner. and it definitely feels like I gave birth recently.
ha ha hilarious, I think it's an awesome goal no matter what the reason you do it for lol even if it is just a t-shirt! :)
An MWR race was my first race, too! Of course, mine was cool enough to have donut in the name of the race...but I did get a shirt with a turkey on it...Good luck! Couch to 5k was the best fitness things I've ever done for myself.
I think signing up for an event is a great way to kind of force the training. At least it was for me, I was "not a runner" too and just did my first 5k in June and have my 2nd coming up this weekend. :-) I done some training on my own but used the C25K to help.
It feels great to get over a hurdle like that both mentally and physcially. Then you just see what's next... for me it was push ups.
Good luck and have fun. Honestly, the donughts and tshirt would be worth if if nothing else.
Good luck and great motivation. I will also do about anything for a free t-shirt :)
Good for you! I'd totally do that race too!
Good luck girl I'm sure you will do GREAT!
That's awesome! Hope you have lots of fun!!
Free Tshirts was my pure motivation for tons of runs/events in college!
Some people yo-yo diet, I yo-yo C25K. I have finished it a couple of times, but then I remember how much I hate running, quit for 6 months and have to start all over again when I remember that running helps me not be fat. It's a struggle. But I'd do it for donuts!
Completing the C25K program is definitely one of my deployment goals :) And a free shirt would get me excited too!
Donuts MIGHT make running more palatable. MAYBE.
I also need to finish the Couch to 5K... somehow, I always get off track.
Apparently, this is the random week to start couch25k. Casey, Mrs Jetplane, and I all started unbenowst to each other the last couple days! Yay for a 4th!
