Pity Party

I'm trying really hard today not to throw a pity party. Sean left today for a month of training and the first day I always find really hard. I've already cried and Boomer was kind enough to try to cheer me up. I really considered staying at home, but knew that would only make me feel worse, so I went ahead and came to work. Thankfully El Asshat aka my boss has been MIA the entire day so it's made today actually bearable.

I'm thinking tonight will involve a little Always Sunny In Philadelphia, some photo editing and a big helping of rice with my green enchiladas.

So...a little off the subject, but Sean and I were watching Deadwood last night. Of all the HBO series I have to say it ranks in my bottom two. I just can't get into it. I don't like the Sopranos either. Not surprisingly Sean enjoys both Deadwood and the Sopranos. However, we both really enjoy Big Love and Entourage.

Anyone else feel that way about Deadwood?

You're entitled to a little pity party, and Always Sunny always helps. Really.

I feel the same way about Deadwood. I'm not into it. I LOVE Big Love though. I got into it On Demand and watched full seasons at a time.

Like the gal (or children?!) above me said, you definitely are allowed a pity party. Shoot, I think by the time I actually become a wife, people are going to know me by my pity parties! i'm excited to see these photos you edit!

I'm loving the "El Asshat" nickname - brilliant! :-D The universe knew that you could not deal with that dbag on your crappy first day after Sean left, thank goodness.

And you're right -- it's always better to just get up and go when you're feeling blue. I need to take that advice more often myself...

I hope the month goes by quickly for you. The first few days are always hard.

We had tried watching Deadwood on DVD sometime last fall and couldn't get into it either. I can't put my finger on exactly what made it boring to me, but it just wasn't working.

El Asshat. Hilarious.

I always have a hard time the first day too! Feel better!!!

I think your solution sounds perfect... give yourself some time to be sad but going to work for the day so you don't get "stuck" in it.

Baby yourself this evening, indulge and do whatever makes you feel better.

1. I am glad this post involved the word "asshat".

2. I am glad this post involved It's Always Sunny.

3. Your green enchiladas sound really good right now.

4. The first day is the hardest and I agree--pity party totally allowed.

5. I hate Deadwood and the Sopranos. D loves them. We met in the middle with Six Feet Under.

I got halfway through the first season of Deadwood and for the life of me couldn't get into it. I do however, love the Soprano's! Have you seen Rome yet? HBO only had it out for 2 seasons. Why only 2 is beyond me because it's really, really good!

Pity party is totally allowed...my pity parties usually involved good movies and lots of junk food:)

Keep your chin up girl!

I used to watch Deadwood, but I spent a LOT of it scratching my head not understanding what was going on. And I always had to turn on the subtitles because I couldn't understand what they were saying.
Big Love is easier and I heart it more, but Deadwood was pretty good too...

I would have had myself a pity party, too. Hang in there!

You should throw a pity party for yourself, I would :) Just think with each day that passes is one day closer to him being home!

I don't like Deadwood either! Aw, I'm sorry you're alone for the next month! Hang in there!

Ohhh I'm so sorry that he's gone. I hope you find something to cheer you up. Shopping and ice cream always help. A little wine too? Yeah you're in the perfect place for all three!

I love it's always sunny. You've gotta have the right humor for it though. Like the dumpster baby episode? hahahaha

I love Big Love. I am missing it so much right now. How are you watching it? Haven't ever tried Deadwood.

My DH left on Sunday and I was doing okay until today when I was putting away his laundry. That first load of laundry after they leave is the worst. I put it away knowing it's going to be a long long time before he wears it again.

Seems like this trip is harder knowing what is around the corner in a few months. I'm pretending he's just working late. I'm all about denial.

P.S! wanted to let you know that there's a blog award with your name on it on my blog :)

oh hun... i think you're very much entitled to a little pity party! It does help to get out though. As much as you want to curl up on the couch and be useless, it never helps. Ice cream usually does, but I think you know that :)

Haven't watched Deadwood, but I know how you feel about Sean leaving! Don't worry about the pity party, we all have them! It sucks for him to be gone for a month, but it'll be all right!

You definitely deserve to throw a pity party! That's tough seeing your husband leave for a month. So you just throw your party!

and I'm with you, I couldn't get into Deadwood either. Although I do LOVE the Sopranos.

Pity party is definitely allowed. I remember Scott leaving me for NTC. I had come to Texas for a long weekend. He was originally supposed to leave the day after me. But, on my last night, we found out he had to leave at like 2AM the day I left. I was stuck in his barracks room with his disgusting roommate until one of his friends picked me up to take me to the airport. I definitely cried!

Hope you are doing better now!

I feel you, B leaves at the end of this week for a month which means no communication AT ALL... I know others have it worse but it's like he drops of the planet and that I've imagined him.. We can have a joint pity party ;-)
