Monday News and my running commentary

Just popping in to catch ya'll up with what's going on in.

Nothing terribly exciting though.

I just returned from the hospital on-post which is always an adventure. Nothing is every easy in the military. I've learned that time and time again since I've been an Army wife.

I went to the hospital to get my medical records, I had the appropriate form all filled out and ready to hand in. Then the guy working at the medical records desk informs me I have to have a copy of Sean's orders.

Crap.

A quick check of the car let me know I wasn't going to get lucky with a spare set of orders in there, so I had to drive home and snag a copy, pet Boomer and nab a mozzarella stick and I was out the door on my way to the hospital again.

This time I had everything I needed and had my medical records in hand in no time.

Did I mention I've already been reading them?

Yeah...they are interesting.

Did I also mention I get secret pleasure noticing I'm only three pounds from what I weighed in high school?

Yeah....I'm pretty pumped about that.

Especially when I noticed my hefty weight noted in my chart around the time I had mono. Let's just say I'm glad I'm not at that point anymore.

Oh...and also I have some fantastic news. Sean and I got a car loan! We didn't have to have any parents co-sign on it and they are also allowing us to take the car overseas with no problems. So, needless to say I was very happy about that blessing/miracle.

In moving news, they came today and picked up our unaccompanied baggage. Tomorrow is storage and Wednesday is all our household goods. Then it's off to the Magnolia House to live for the next couple of days until I'm done with work.

Speaking of work, my boss is taking us out for my "last day" dinner this Wednesday. I'm pretty excited, because it means I get to pick where we eat. Last time I got to pick where we ate, our administrative assistant almost poked out bosses' eye out with a chopstick. Fun times, I tell ya.

I got my stiches out yesterday. Something simple turned out to be a long process. I waited two and a half hours to get them out. No, I'm not joking. I sucked it up though and just got through the waiting process. I wasn't going to leave and then have to go back again. It didn't hurt a bit and now I'm sans stitches.

Woo Hoo!

17 Days Until Christmas!

Most of all I'm excited that you were able to get a car loan and that you can take your car with you! That sounded like such a headache...I think I would have gone crazy with stress!

And what a relief to get the stitches out! That didn't take too long!

I'm stressing out every time I see your little Christmas countdown...I have a lot of baking and knitting to do before then! I've even decided to skip out on running until Christmas!

wow.. I have so much respect for you and your husband. Things seem pretty hectic around there. Confession: what originally drew me to your blog is the fact that my husband is *thinking* about joining the army and has been talking to a recruiter. So you should just know now that I'll be coming to you for advice and support if this does actually happen!!

I'm glad to hear the stitches are out! I can't believe Christmas is so soon and that you are moving so soon. Now that they are picking stuff up, is it starting to hit you more or are you just ready for it?

Next time there is a two hour wait, go home, dip a paid of nail clippers in rubbing alcohol (or boiling water) to disinfect, clip the stitches, pull out, and slater with neosporin. I've had to take my own stitches out on three or four occassions due to swimming etc. I had to call my doc and get it approved but that's what they told me to do!

Or just wait. :) Like a sane person, hahaa.

I second what d.a.r says...although don't tell my professors that I'm saying that :) I have memories of my dad taking out my stiches.

Good luck with the move!!!

Congrats on the car loan!

Glad the stitches didn't hurt coming out, mine did a little when I had mine out and I was a big baby. =)

CRAP! I was supposed to sign for my records today, dang it. Totally slipped my mind. I'll write it down now, and do it tomorrow.

Thanks for the reminder!

Oh, the little things that give us such a headache.

When I got stiches out it hurt SO BAD! But maybe I'm just a whimp :) I'm glad that yours didn't hurt.

I love reading through Dr's notes. Their commentary (if not fully professional) is usually very funny! Glad to hear yours was good!

Good luck on the packing/moving!
