Give Me a Break....Please!

Nothing has frustrated me as much as this whole shipping my car to Italy business.

You remember my posts about trying to get a loan with a different bank so we could be authorized to ship it?

Well, of course as I mentioned, we got a loan for it. At the beginning of December. Our bank in Leesville was going to send the check to our bank in Tulsa, the bank in Tulsa would send the loan release form back to our bank and our title for our car would be taken care of.

Fast forward to today and we still have not gotten the title for our car. I call the Oklahoma Tax Commission bright and early to see why we haven't gotten it.

THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF IT

Which means either it got lost in the mail or the bank never sent it to them.

After playing phone tag with our loan officer in Lousiana, we finally figured out that our bank here in Tulsa hadn't sent back the loan release to our bank in Louisiana.

To make a long story short, our bank in Tulsa says they sent it the 18th, our bank in Lousiana says they haven't received yet and so I had another copy of it overnighted to our bank in Louisiana.

The biggest problem? It hasn't even been sent to the Oklahoma Tax Commission yet and we leave for Dallas on Monday.

I'm trying not to freak out, but I'm so tired of things not going as planned with our car. If we don't get that title by Monday then we won't be able to ship our car. Simple as that.

This time the situation was out of my hands. I didn't drop the ball on this one, but of course someone inevitably did.

Argh! I seriously just want to scream. You have no idea.

So once again I'm asking for prayers and good wishes that this gets done before we have to leave.

This is totally how overseas moves work! I wasn't on the orders until the day the movers came. Last minute= heart attack!

Well look at it this way. Once it's done and over there, my understanding is that you can bring a car back as long as you took one with you. AKA cheap Ferrari, welcome to America :D

holy.
crap.

is all of italy under water or is that just venice? maybe you could just get a cool boat.

if only venice is under water, then maybe this is just God telling you that he wants you to ride a bicycle in italy.

or maybe roller skates.

It's always something that just frustrates the CRAP out of ya when it comes to moving. I know because I've totally been there.

Lots of good thoughts and prayers that things will work out easily and quickly. Girl needs a car... HER car doggonit!

so sorry you're having to deal with this, but i'm sorry to say it probably won't be the end. just keep reminding yourself it's an adventure, and think of yourself as indiana jones. you know he didn't really want to deal with booby traps and big rocks rolling after him, but he did it because it's part of the adventure.

If you can't your car with you just go to government sales. They usually have good offers and it is common on post that the Soldiers buy and sell their cars to each other.

Good luck with the move. Or if it is not a car go for a Vespa. :)

Good luck!

I remember it was a headache when i shipped my car to Alaska. I had similar problems :-\ It seems the people at Fort Benning couldn't get anything right :-(

I'm just now stumbling upon your blog. We almost got Italy, but my husband turned down the offer to keep Alaska. I'm glad we're here but I sure would love to see Italy! =)
