Trying Something New

I think today is the day for trying something new for me. If I don't mix things up every once in awhile, then the deployment seems to drag, so to save my sanity I like to try new things.

I already take a spin class at the gym, but today I decided to take the yoga class that I had been saying I'd take for the last few months. I'd taken pilates in college and had done various yoga tapes before, so I thought I knew what I was getting into.

Um....not so much. I'd equate this yoga class as being as hard as my spin class. Of course now spin seems easier, because I've been doing it for awhile and maybe yoga will feel like that one of these days. Today however, I thought I was going to drop from doing yoga. I was sweaty, my muscles were shaking and I stretched muscles I didn't even know I had. My body hasn't bent like that since I took gymnastics when I was younger. It had its relaxing points, but it was challenging as well. I think I'm hooked.

My other new thing to try tonight, is a restaurant that I have yet to eat at since I've been in Italy. I've heard rave reviews about it and tonight I'm finally going to go with a big group. I've already looked at the menu and I have no idea what I want to get because there are so many good things on there. The ham and fresh pear stuffed ravioli though keeps getting my attention. I'll try to do a review sometime this weekend!

Yoga is great for you! My friend is a yoga instructor and she is always telling me what a workout it is! I'd love to get to a class, if I didn't have to work evenings. Maybe sometime in the near future.

Have fun tonight and enjoy the lovely Italian food! Have a great weekend.

I took a free yoga class once just to try it. You know at the end when they are like "lay on the mat?" I basically dropped. Apparently, my arms lack serious strength! I feel ya!

Yoga is SO hard but I love it too! I am always amazed at the flexibility of the people around me in class! They turn into pretzels! Enjoy your yummy dinner out at the new restaurant!

Hahaha. When we started P90X, the workouts were so intense compared to what I was used to, and then we got to yoga night and I though, "Ah, a chance to relax and destress." (Obviously I had never tried yoga.) Wow, at the end we were both going, "I FREAKING HATE DOWNWARD DOG!!!" :)

I've never done a yoga class but I can imagine it being pretty hard! I've been doing a spin class though and I love it!

I struggle with yoga. I am extremely flexible.. but I have absolutely NO balance it seems. I LOVE pilates, but Yoga is not my friend! lol

What is "Spin Class". I have heard so many talk about it... and I'm quite curious.

I hope you enter the contest I'm hosting! :D

I LOVE yoga but do not do it nearly enough. I definitely get those crazy shakes too. It makes me laugh but I know that it's my body's way of showing me that it's working hard!

Ha, last year I tried out a Pilates Class at the Rec Center in Claremore and thought I was going to die. I also found muscles I never knew I had! The next morning I had to roll out of bed, I was so sore.
Good luck keeping up with the Yoga, it sounds like fun.

I ♥ yoga! I'm so proud of you for trying new things! It's one of the best things to do during the deployment. It can really help break up the time.
