Collections

I'm currently in the process of editing pictures from my trip to Milan, look for those tomorrow. In the meantime, I wanted to do a post on collections.

I have a few collections that I've started over the years.

My favorite would probably be my postcard collection. I don't remember when I started collecting postcards, but I'm guessing I was around seven. Since then I've had to get postcards on pretty much every trip I've been on. Whether that was a day trip or something much longer. I have NO idea how many postcards I have now, but it's a lot. I also love buying vintage postcards from thrift shops. I have a really awesome black and white one from France right after WWII. It's even got a message on it to someone. Very cool!

I collect Barbie's too, even though I haven't really added to my collection much the past few years. I, of course, have all my Barbies from when I was little, but I don't really count those towards my collection. I have 2 Rubbermaid containers full of all my Barbies and that's not even counting all the Barbie ornaments I have. I have so many Barbie ornaments that I am going to do a tree with just them one of these days.

What do you collect?

I also collect vintage Nancy Drew books. I have a decent collection of them, most of them I received as gifts for birthdays and Christmas. Most of them are from the 1930s. I'm still on the lookout for them when I go to old book sales or antique shops in the States.

I love that you collect the postcards. That is so neat to have someones letter to someone on there. The only thing I collect really is shot glasses. It started out because my dad collects them and I thought it was a lot neater than the collector spoons that my mom, gram, and aunt got.

I collect Barbies too! Although I haven't really since I have been in Germany. I also love postcards. For one thing they are usually pretty cheap and usually every place I go has them.

We started collecting postcards of all the places we visit. We always get at least one from each place too so we have a lot. I have a cute box that is almost full but I am wondering what do you do with them? I have thought about putting them all in a photo album but it would have to be a BIG album to hold them but not all would fit because several of them are bigger than the standard 4x6.

When I was younger I used to collect all kind of stuff - napkins, postcards, stamps, girly junk... I am not doing any of that any more and I kinda enjoy not having any off that in my house right now, I feel much more organized without knowing that I have all that stuff in the house.
I gave stamps (thousands) to my cousin, napkins to my frineds kid, postcards to my brother etc.
OK, there is actually one thing I do colect and that is my husband's letters and all the cards I get for birthdays and special occasions from family and friends.

We collect playing card decks. Yup, we're the annoying tourist people who keep those guys in business! We have way more decks of playing cards than we will ever use!

I used to try collecting things when I was younger but I always ended up throwing it all out. I'm the biggest anti-pack rat, even if it's organized (which it must be or I go crazy!). I would like to collect cookbooks, but they're a little expensive.

I have some of the barbie ornaments too! Probably not as many as you though. I collect Saint candles, a few years ago someone gave me one and since then I've been getting them.

I collect cookbooks, and shot glasses from everywhere we go. I have so many cookbooks that I can't even cook out of all of them! Shot glasses are fun because they are small, and I will eventually get a shot glass holder for all of our fancy shmancy ones! =)
