Reunions

I'm kind of at a loss to blog today, so I'm going to do a question.

High school reunions: will you go or not? Why or why not?

Discuss!

I will not be going. I grew up in a very small town and with FB I know what everyone is doing. Plus, those I want to see I still keep in touch with, there are reasons I don't keep in touch with the others.

Interestingly enough, I chose not to go to my 10 year reunion EVEN THOUGH I happened to be in Texas that weekend (we were still living in Germany when my 10 year came around). I think I just felt like I already knew what was going on with everyone (due to FB) and there wasn't anyone I cared to see in person. I didn't feel like telling "my story" a thousand times, either.

Yeah, Allison = Fuddy duddy

I don't HAVE to go, but if I'm around my hometown and a couple of my good friends from HS want to go then I'd consider it. I suck at socializing though and I'm not even sure if anyone would get anything decent together to pass as a "reunion". I guess I have another 3 years to wait to find out!

Our five-year reunion was this past year, and I did not go. It was not very well thought out, and the people who planned it planned for it be at a bar in town, then wanted to charge $30 to drink all night, which isn't my thing, either. It would've been nice to see some people, but when it comes down to it, I can hang out and do things I really have interest in with the people I do still keep in touch with just as well. Had it been at a nicer place, I would have reconsidered.

10 years= I didn't get to go because I was in Germany with a baby and a toddler and a deployed husband. 20=I hope to be able to go to.

My 20 is this summer. I didn't go to my 10 as I had just had a baby. I really don't know if I'll go to my 20. I didn't particularly like high school. I see everyone on fb and the same people that hung out in high school are still hanging out together and doing the same things. No desire.

I totally want to go if we're where I can. I just want to see if my predictions about people came true! I really didn't have that many great friends in high school, but it would be nice to see everyone and see what has happened to them. So far, everyone's still alive, and that's pretty significant, I think.

No. I was so happy when I graduated and I really just do not want to go back.

I liked HS, don't get me wrong, but I just don't care to see any of them again.

My 10 year is actually in May and we are in the middle of planning it:)
I am actually very excited about it! I went to a small Christian School and graduated with 7 other people and some of them I haven't seen since graduation!

Are you going to go to your reunion?

I will definitely go to mine! I'm actually excited about it. I graduated with a great class and can't wait to see how everyone turned out!

I went to mine last summer. I had a blast! I considered not going but am glad I did. If you are thinking about going, go. You may regret it and with Facebook and other social networking sites, you are bound to see pics and wish you would have gone.

Depends. I guess it will just matter how long it has been since I last saw my two best friends. One if a Navy wife, and with me going into the AF I'm betting I'll go just to spend some time with them. Other than that, I could care less. WIth FB I know what everyone is up to, and it's not much! lol

Oh I should also say my grauating class was 528 kids. There where people whose names I have NEVER even heard of. There where hundreds of kids I NEVER even had a class with, so it would be like going to meet a bunch of strangers. lol

Most definitely NOT going. I only really talk to maybe three or four people I graduated with and there is no point in going back. Especially since I HATED high school.

Not a damn chance. I won't even go into it but no.

My 10 year reunion was in 07, and I did not attend. I am actually glad I didn't go because a few friends reported that it was really lame. It was BYOB and held in a public picnic area. Not a very classy reunion.

I didn't go to my 10 year reunion because my husband was deploying a week later. I had mixed emotions about going because I only kept in touch with a couple of people so the deployment made my mind up for me. But since then I've reconnected with a ton of old friends on Facebook, and now I can't wait for the 20th!

I don't plan on going, I wasn't really friends with anyone I graduated with. My school has had these larger reunions that involved many classes, I may attend one of those if I think some of the lower classes will be there, I got along with them better.

I think I'll probably go. Mainly because I don't live in my hometown anymore, and there's only about 5 or so people I've seen since high school. However, I do think with the advent of facebook, reunions aren't nearly as important. I mean it used to be the only way you knew what happened to people was by going to the reunion. But with facebook you already know.

Maybe. It's 10 years this year for me.

The few people I care to talk to, I do. But it'd be interesting to see. I guess it will depend when it's scheduled and when P is supposed to redeploy.

I'd honestly rather see teachers than some of my classmates--sad!

amber said...

Yes, definitely! There were only 13 in my graduating class and we all got along pretty well. I still see a few of my classmates on occassion and I would love to see everyone else!

Sarah Ann said...

Not sure. I figure if my high school group of friends still sticks together by then maybe because then we can make fun of all the popular chicks who have gotten fat and have a bajilion kids. Oh wait, they've already done that. =]

My high school reunion's actually been on my mind the past few weeks. My hubby will still be deployed then which definitely puts a damper on things. So I'm still indecisive...especially with the emergence of social networking (FB, myspace, etc.)...you pretty much know what everyone's been up to already.
