A Realization

I meant to blog this weekend, but feeling crummy and just being lazy kept me from doing so.

Sean and I went out Friday night to one of our favorite nighttime places to hang out. They'd moved to a new location and we hadn't been since before he deployed so we went and ended up getting to listen to a Beatles coverband. I didn't have high expectations, but they turned out to be really good.

Although Friday night was great, Saturday was not. I did something I don't normally do anymore and had a few drinks. Not a good idea. My body is not used to it and it didn't react very well to it. I used to go out a lot in college and even for a couple years after I graudated I still reguarly went out. Since we've been in Italy I haven't felt the need or desire to go out that much. I prefer hanging out at home and occasionally sipping on a glass (or two) of wine.

I told Sean that I don't mind going out in the future, but I'm either not going to have any drinks, or I'll limit myself to one. I just can't act like I'm 21 anymore. It doesn't feel good!

That's why I don't do it either, I'm too old and can't recover like I used to in college! I'll stick with a glass of wine at home and an early bedtime, lol.

I did happy hour with a friend on Thursday...and ended up getting home after midnight. I felt terrible on Friday but agreed to meet up with some of Mr. F's friends that night since he just got back from a week in the field. Of course, I had a few too many beers, got home later than planned and my entire weekend was shot. Ugh.

I'm getting too old for this shit!

I completely understand. I still enjoy the going out and drinking part (though on a MUCH lesser frequency than days gone by), but it's just not worth it to have the horrible repercussions of the next day!

Anytime I drink more than two, I feel it the next day. It's terrible. I've actually noticed that wine is about the only thing I can drink at all without feeling bad after...too bad b/c I used to be such a rum girl.

While I do use my hangover cures, I still can't get up & at em like I used to after a night of drinking

The hubs is in the same place you are. Hard stuff just doesn't sit right with him any more!

Agreed. Two glasses of wine gave me a hangover a couple months ago. Now one drink is plenty for me! :)

I think we know we're getting old when it's no longer easy to get over having fun! Hangovers are the worst! :)

I can't handle it anymore either! If I go out I know that if I drink more than one or two drinks I'll be feeling it the next day.

I'm with you. But it's always been that way for me.... I never could hang with the cool kids and booze it up. So I learned my limits and rarely push them, in the 5 years I've known my husband he's seen my good and plastered once!
I prefer (like you) to stick to some wine, good friends, and to maintain some semblance of personal space at home! :)
