Don't Mess With a Good Thing

So the other day I rented Sex and the City 2 and had high expectations. I saw the first movie and thought it was ok, but was hoping the second would be better.

Wrong.

I don't know what it is with the movies, but they leave a lot to be desired. Which brings me to the point of why mess with a good thing? The series was AWESOME. I could watch it over and over again and used to when it was on TBS. I even own most of the series on DVD. For some reason I can't get into the movies and the characters seem less likeable to me. Especially Carrie, who usually is my favorite.

Can I also comment on the fact how annoying it was that Charlotte kept freaking out about her kids when she had a FULL TIME, LIVE IN NANNY! Really? Who does that? It just got under my skin.

I pray that they don't make another movie, is anyone out there with me on this?

Yep I totally agree. I was completely underwhelmed with the Second Movie. It's true the series you can watch over and over again. I have all the dvds and the first movie. I didn't bother buying the second one cuz it was just bleh. Oh well we will always have the reruns/dvds to watch.

I only saw the first one and thought it was horrible! It didnt make me want to see the second. I loved the series too.

I think the highlight of the movie for me was Samantha's line, "Prince of my Labia."

Other than that, this movie was awful. The humor wasn't funny, the women were desperate and ridiculous, and the fashion was AWFUL.

I agree. The movie was embarrassing.

I usually hate any movie that comes after 1, and my gosh there are some up to like 5.. I applaud you for watching it, I didn't want to hate it or waste the money. And your blog completely saved me more :)

I did not care for it either! It was so cheesy and not good.
I love the series though and can watch it over and over!

I have never seen an episode of Sex in the City. My sister is totally into it. I might give it a try.

I thought the first one was ok, but not great. The second one was so bad I almost stopped it half-way, and I NEVER do that even with a really bad one. I spent the whole time thinking, ;surely it'll get better!' I was wrong. I was also offended on behalf of the middle-eastern culture in general! The way Samantha flaunted sex in spite of the cultural issues was pretty disgusting!
And Carrie used to be my favourite, until I realised that she's just a spoiled brat who wants happiness, but everytime she gets it complains and carries on until it's gone!!

The first one is what I considered a "guilt pleasure" not really good, it was just fun seeing them again... as for the second one, my husband and I almost wanted to leave the theater because we were so embarrassed at the cheesiness.

While I agree with you on a lot of your complaints, I still want them to make just one more movie. That way they can end on a high instead of this one.

I really liked the first movie, but the second was definitely a let down. But I must agree...nothing tops the series :)

I like Shoshana's idea. I'd go see a third SATC movie...

I'm with you I had such high hopes, was so excited to watch a movie that lacked singing carton animals only to wish it did. It was just flat. And a lot of whining.
