Miss You!

I was inspired recently by Ayla over at What? Mermaids? with a picture she had holding up a Miss You sign for her husband who is deployed.

I decided I'd start doing "I Miss You" signs for Sean while he's deployed. Some will have me in them, some will be for places I go and some will just be everyday tasks or things that remind me of him.

Here are my first two.

Has anyone else done any little projects like this while their significant other is deployed?

That is such a cute little project :)

I was doing a 365 project when my husband deployed last time. I kept it up for a few months but then stopped.

Last deployment, I was pregnant, and I was getting weekly baby development e-mails from BabyCenter. I would take the e-mail and "translate" it into a letter from the baby, print it out and send it to Michael. I printed each one in a font that looked like a child had written it, in crayon colors. I'd get a couple months done at a time and send them all together, and when the current week came up, he'd read it and see what his baby was up to and what developments were going on. He LOVED it. It was a good way to keep him included in the pregnancy from so far away. When we move back to the States and I can fix up an actual nice bedroom for Jericho, I'm going to print some of the letters and frame them for his room.

I think that's a great idea!

Just another idea to store away for our next deployment.

So sweet!

I did a lot of videos and pictures for my husband. Kids grow up so fast. Especially when you're gone a whole year!!! Or more!

My big project during Rob's deployment was a "365 Quotes" thing. Basically I took 365 (I think I added more, too) small slips of paper, and on each one I wrote a quote, or private joke, special message, etc. Then I put them all into a jar and sent them to him. The idea was, for each day he could pick out one slip of paper and read what I had written.

I like that!

I haven't started any kind of a project, other than working out and trying to get my finances under control. I'll have to figure out if I am going to do anything for it.

When *R* and I were dating long distance I did that fairly often. Actually I did it just a few weeks ago when he was at SERE school!

For Thanksgiving, I had signs I held up for Mr. Top gun. For Christmas, I held up signs too, and for New Year's... I will hold up another sign :(

January is the LAST month I have to hold up a sign!!!

I do a day in the life pictures with little comments on the back. Like the stop sign at the end of our street. Its good for him because we bought our house 10 days before he left.

Thats a cute idea. Mark would've loved that. My friend did that for me when she went back to Chile. She visited all our old spots and even located friends of ours to hold an "Hola, Sarita" sign. And a llama.

What a cute idea! I actually sent a cat picture each week reassuring him that the cats were still around. LOL

Chad and I haven't been through a deployment yet but when we were doing everything long distance we used to do that for each other. One of his favorite things about me is that I NEVER let my toe nail polish get chipped so after a fresh pedicure, I sent him one of my feet holding a sign that said "Wish you were here." I think he still has that one saved on his phone.

I LOVE this idea. I wish I had done something like this while Sheldon was gone. You could also do a picture a day type thing.
