Destination Unknown

I have a question for both military and non-military folks. When it's all said and done where do you want to end up living?

Sean and I had been discussing where we wanted to live after his time was up in the Army. As of right now, he's positive he's getting out after this re-enlistment is up. I think this time he might actually be serious. He's getting very burnt out in the Army and I can tell this and I think his body has just had enough.

So far we've discussed moving to the suburbs of the nearest big city to our hometown in Oklahoma. He likes the area, I like the area and it's close to my parents and friends.

We're also throwing around the idea of Louisiana. We both really liked being there. Granted, we don't want to move to Leesville, but we've discussed a few other areas in Louisiana that we wouldn't mind moving to.

At this point though I think we just want to move home. Sean is throwing around the idea of going back to school and becoming a history teacher. Interesting no? I think he'd be great at it and I can see him enjoying it as well. As for me I think I could be happy being a librarian at an elementary school or having my own photography business. Maybe even a little of both.

So if you aren't living where you want to live right now, where do you want to live? Or if you're military, where do you want to live once you are done with your time of service or after retirement?

Wordless Wednesday- Home

These are from my home in Oklahoma, but they aren't from my recent trip. These were taken last summer.

When I think of home these are two images that usually come to my mind. The beautiful sunsets with the long grass waving in a slight breeze.

And my mom's flower gardens with hummingbirds constantly buzzing about

Shoes!

These are two pairs of shoes that I bought at Payless the other day. The red ones are my favorite and they look super cute with jeans or a skirt.

I also found some good stuff at Goodwill. I bought about six shirts from there that will do well for either work or outside of work, two books and the Muppets Christmas Carol. One might ask why I bought a Christmas movie in the summer, but I love Christmas movies and I don't have that one so there's no way I could pass it up.

Unfortunately I didn't find any skirts, which is what I really wanted to buy on this trip. I even went to the mall to look and still didn't find anything I wanted. However, I did order 2 dresses off of the Forever 21 website last week so I'm hoping they come in soon.

I even had sushi for lunch on Saturday. A rainbow roll to be exact and it was just heavenly. I had dearly missed eating sushi.

As I said, Sean came back yesterday and so it was nice having a bed partner again even if I don't sleep as well in a crowded bed.

I'm getting excited about seeing my friends at the baby shower this weekend. I'm also very excited to see my best friend Jess, who the shower is for. I haven't seen her since she was only about a month along so I'm excited to see what a pretty, pregnant lady she is.

It looks like I will be taking Boomer home with me this weekend, as Sean has to work again. So that should be quite interesting. He's never been on a car ride that long and one occuring during the late evening hours should be even more interesting. I hope he does well. There was one incident of him being carsick. Let's just hope he doesn't repeat that!

Home Sweet Home

I think I might be going "home" this weekend. Technically I know home is wherever the Army sends us, but I will never stop thinking of Oklahoma as my home. I lived there for 24 years, so it's kind of hard to think of it as anything less than that.

Sean has a four day weekend, but since he is currently on standby status, it's not really a good idea for him to be 10 hours away in Oklahoma, so he's staying here. I never look forward to the long drive, but audio books make the drive seem so much shorter! I learned that on my last drive down here and I swear I'll never take a long trip without them again!

I'm excited to see my friends and family back home. I'm trying to see them as much as possible and as much as our pocketbook can afford before we PCS to Italy next January. I plan on seeing all my grandparents and of course my immediate family as well as some close friends. I also think I'll be eating at my favorite sushi place. Oh how I have missed the sushi at In the Raw! What a treat it will be. :)

Today was my first Army Family Team Building class. I have to say for the most part I really enjoyed it. I learned some things that I didn't already know and met some new people as well. I really enjoyed learning about the various volunteer opportunites that are available. Some of them sound like something I'd like to involve myself with.

Sean cooked hamburgers tonight and they were just delicious. Man, he can cook! He just goes by instinct and he always seems to know what works and what doesn't. He put Swiss cheese, onions and mushrooms on my burger. Sans bun of course, since I'm limiting my bread intake.

My little dog Boomer is something else. I think he was mad at us today because he was crated for quite awhile since I was taking classes and Sean was too. I would put him in the yard, but he's such a little escape artist and always manages to get outside the fence. So until we get some of large cage for the backyard he has to be crated inside. He's such a smart, little puppy! Sometimes he really aggravates me and I have to admit my desire to have children soon has gone down a bit since getting a dog. Being responsible for him right now is enough for me!

Well, tomorrow is going to be a bit busy for me, I have a couple of hours of class, then my yearly exam (oh joy!) and a job interview. Should be an interesting day!
