Always An Adventure

Time for another post about Boomer aka The Naughtiest Min-Pin EVER!

For those of you on my FB, you've already heard this story, so please excuse me retelling it on here.

So, after weighing Boomer the other day and finding out he gained about 3 lbs in the last year, Sean and I decided to put Boomer on a diet. We've been bad about letting him eat people food, so we decided to stop feeding him things he didn't need.

Needless to say, he hasn't been taking this well. In fact, I think it's made him a little crazy.

Yesterday I took Sean to post to drop him off to catch the bus to Germany. When I left, Boomer was still in bed. There was at tied off trash can in our kitchen that I was going to dispose of later in the day, but I thought it was safe since Boomer was still asleep. Lo and behold I come home to find an empty tuna can and a pork chop bone in my bed. Of course the pork chop had to have some kind of sauce on it, which resulted in me changing the sheets and blanket on the bed.

I thought the naughty actions were done for the day, but I should have known better. I went to dinner with a friend and when I returned I found wrapping paper and a half eaten bag of treats on my bed. Boomer had rummaged around under the tree, found a gift of his, unwrapped it and then ate half the treats. By that time, I was pretty much done with the naughty behavior and took him to bed.

I have to say, at least he keeps things interesting!

Movie Moments and Revenge

How many of you have one movie scene in particular that you get goosebumps whenever you watch it?

I have a couple.

First up?

The bus scene from Almost Famous where they all start singing Tiny Dancer. I LOVE that scene! Always gives me goosebumps. Something about it is so simple, but really speaks to me.

The second one is from Gone With the Wind.

Remember the swelling music when it shows Tara? I love that scene too!

I just had a bad movie moment though. Someone chose Hostel 2 to watch here at the USO and it made me so sick I actually had to put my head between my legs. I wasn't even watching it! That was just listening to it. Ugh..I hate gory movies.

So what are some of your favorite or least favorite movie moments?

Oh..and now for the revenge portion of my post. In case you are a new reader and didn't know I have a very smart, naughty and revengeful Miniature Pinscher named Boomer. He's particularly naughty when Sean is away. When I got home last night from work I took him outside and he refused to do anything. Fast forward to me going to bed and I notice the blankets and sheet are wet. From where Boomer revengefully PEED on them! It's not that he's not housetrained. He is and has been for about nine months. He lets you know when he needs to go out. This act was just him being mad that I went to work and left him at home. Needless to say he got in BIG trouble!

Argh! Little dogs can be so frustrating. I don't want to even imagine kids yet.

Sweet Revenge

So, yesterday Sean picked me up from work, we get home, decide we are going straight to the gym to work out before dinner. Boomer is not happy with this. Even though Sean had been home with him for a couple of hours he wanted attention NOW! The fact we were leaving didn't sit well with him. When we got home I knew there would be something torn up as retalition on his part. Sure enough we get home from the gym, not even an hour later and he's clearly shown his displeasure with us. Bathroom trash torn up, my shoe box torn to shreds, my bedroom slippers drug out of the closet and wet from him chewing on them. The worst part was he somehow got the ornament that I was sending my friend off of my desk. Drug it out of the closed box, unwrapped the bubble wrap around it and proceeded to chew it up. Completely destroyed it. To say I was mad was an understatement. I was furious! He got several spankings and I made it well-known that I was not happy with him. He tried to make-up to me after that by coming to lay up by my neck and resting his head on my chest, he makes it very difficult to stay mad at him.

And to think Sean and I were considering last week whether to get another Min-Pin to be a companion for Boomer. Ha! No chance of that now! One naughty Min-Pin is enough! I cannot imagine two!

I was thinking this morning about books I read as a child and which ones were my favorite. One of my all time favorites was The Little House books. I really enjoyed all of them even though the books about Laura when she was younger were by far my favorite. This one was my very favorite.

My mom started off reading those books to me and by the time we got to that book I was reading ahead by myself, I know she was proud of me, but also a little sad I didn't need her to read to me anymore.

Here are some of my other favorites as a girl:

1. Nancy Drew
2. Trixie Belden
3. American Girl series
4. Little Women
5. Eight Cousins
6. I loved the abriged classics like Robinson Carusoe, Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
7. Island of Blue Dolphins
8. The Ramona series
9.Anne of Green Gables
10.Charlotte's Web

What were your favorites as a child?

My Return to the Gym

I feel so much better today. My allergies seem to be almost gone and I can finally breathe and sleep through most of the night, without having to sit-up and sniff in what I assume can only be the most annoying sound ever. Yay!

Today has been decent so far. I worked out for an hour today after I dropped Sean off for work. It's been a week and a half since I'd worked out and I could already feel the difference. As in my body felt weaker. I made it through my usual free weight workout though and so some of my gym self-confidence returned after that.

Sean was extremely grouchy this morning. I guess it was just one of those days when he really dislikes his job and being in the Army. I'm sure it wasn't helped by the fact that he had to run 5 miles in PT this morning, after they hadn't done PT for almost two weeks. Actually, I don't think it's the Army that he dislikes on days like this, but the unorganization of this particular unit. He's been stationed other places and in different units and he says this one by far is the most unorganized. He's more than ready to leave for Italy and be a part of the 173rd.

Boomer has been a trial lately. It's rained off and on here the last few days and he absolutley HATES getting his feet wet when he goes out to use the bathroom. I understand that, but obviously that's his only choice, since him using our living room as his personal restroom is not something I'm ok with. I took him out 3 times last night and early this morning where he refused to go. At one point I'd really had it and demanded he come to me in the yard in which he promptly looked at me and then ran in the house where he dove under the covers with Sean, where he presumably thought he was safe. I love my little dog, but sometimes he can be a bit much.

I'm watching my friend Devon's two little boys for her tonight, while she goes to an FRG meeting. I don't baby-sit often, but I don't really mind it and they are good little boys so I don't think it'll be too much for me. I'm eager to see how Sean handles the additions of two tots in our normally quite household. He loves kids, but I don't see him interact with them too often. This should be interesting. Ha ha ha.

I'm just loving all these blogs that I'm subscribed to on Blogger. I find it fascinating to read the blogs of women that are spouses of those in the military. It's neat to see that we have a common thread in our life, but yet each of our lives is so different. I don't know, it's just neat to get a perspective of others lives that resemble your own.

Home Sweet Home

I think I might be going "home" this weekend. Technically I know home is wherever the Army sends us, but I will never stop thinking of Oklahoma as my home. I lived there for 24 years, so it's kind of hard to think of it as anything less than that.

Sean has a four day weekend, but since he is currently on standby status, it's not really a good idea for him to be 10 hours away in Oklahoma, so he's staying here. I never look forward to the long drive, but audio books make the drive seem so much shorter! I learned that on my last drive down here and I swear I'll never take a long trip without them again!

I'm excited to see my friends and family back home. I'm trying to see them as much as possible and as much as our pocketbook can afford before we PCS to Italy next January. I plan on seeing all my grandparents and of course my immediate family as well as some close friends. I also think I'll be eating at my favorite sushi place. Oh how I have missed the sushi at In the Raw! What a treat it will be. :)

Today was my first Army Family Team Building class. I have to say for the most part I really enjoyed it. I learned some things that I didn't already know and met some new people as well. I really enjoyed learning about the various volunteer opportunites that are available. Some of them sound like something I'd like to involve myself with.

Sean cooked hamburgers tonight and they were just delicious. Man, he can cook! He just goes by instinct and he always seems to know what works and what doesn't. He put Swiss cheese, onions and mushrooms on my burger. Sans bun of course, since I'm limiting my bread intake.

My little dog Boomer is something else. I think he was mad at us today because he was crated for quite awhile since I was taking classes and Sean was too. I would put him in the yard, but he's such a little escape artist and always manages to get outside the fence. So until we get some of large cage for the backyard he has to be crated inside. He's such a smart, little puppy! Sometimes he really aggravates me and I have to admit my desire to have children soon has gone down a bit since getting a dog. Being responsible for him right now is enough for me!

Well, tomorrow is going to be a bit busy for me, I have a couple of hours of class, then my yearly exam (oh joy!) and a job interview. Should be an interesting day!
