Weekend in Review....plus pictures!

Well, well, well....Monday awaits me once again.

I wish it was the weekend already! For one thing I have a feeling this upcoming weekend is going to be super-fun, but more on that later in the week.

I had a good time this past weekend. Sean had to work some of Saturday and I baby-sat for a few hours on Saturday afternoon and of course took tons of baby pictures. The parents asked me what I wanted for watching their child and I told them nothing, but they brought me two bottles of wine! How nice is that? I of course had to open one of them Saturday night and had a few tasty glasses.

Sean and I also watched the Texas Tech/Texas game on Saturday night. Technically he fell asleep in the 3rd quarter, so I watched the rest of the game. Boy was it exciting! I don't know how many of you out there watched, but I was on the edge of my seat in the final 2 minutes!

On Sunday, Sean and I had to do a quick Wal-Mart run and then decided to stop at KFC for lunch. Can I just say how much I love a good KFC buffet? Also thank god I was raised in the South, where you can find any variety of fried food. The chicken breast I had was to die for and the fried zucchini was beyond good too. I know that fried food isn't really that great for you, but I balanced it out with a nice salad last night for dinner, so I feel better about my indulgence at lunchtime.

Last night we watched the newest Indiana Jones movie. I was a bit disappointed by it honestly. Give me the Temple of Doom anyday! I just felt this one was a bit far-fetched. Did anyone else feel that way?

I can't believe it's already November! I reminded Sean of that yesterday and he was quite stoked when he realized he's only with this unit for another month and a half. I know the Army as a whole can be pretty unorganized, but the unit he's in takes the cake. They called him yesterday morning at 10:00 a.m. to tell him he was supposed to be doing staff duty since 9:00 a.m. Not one person had told him about that the entire week. No one bothered to call and inform him of that until after the fact he was supposed to be there. He got one of our friends to do it though, since if he did staff duty for 24 hours it would be hard for him to get to his Transportation Brief this morning and actually retain anything.

I also cleaned out our spare closet this weekend. No easy feat let me assure you. I found a whole bunch of Thanksgiving/Halloween decorations that I had forgotten I even had. How sad is that? Anyway, I got rid of some stuff that I didn't need, put all my Christmas wrapping paper, bows and bags together to take to my parent's house for Christmas. If I plan on spending the next couple of Christmases at my parent's house then there's no need for me to have my wrapping paper packed up and sent to Italy.

Here are a few pics from this weekend:

I really wanted to focus in on his little hand.

Ok..technically I know his face has a shadow on it, but I still thought it was a cute pic.

I love baby hands!

Look at the cool German mug that Sean got for helping with the German infantry badge this past week. He actually got two of them.

This is what I noticed when I was in our bedroom yesterday. Look closely at the shadow.

No funny resumes to report on today. Well, except under qualifications one girl put that she had military security clearance. I'm not sure how that figures into this position, but I have to admit I did chuckle a bit when I read that.

Oh and one more thing. I'm going to have a giveaway in honor of my 200th post that's coming up. Anything in particular you'd like to see me giveaway? Book? gift-card? Something completely random and unexpected? Yankee Candle? Christmas ornament?

Let me know what you think!

What a weekend!

I meant to get on here and blog several times this weekend, but it was so hectic that I never got around to it.

We had a great holiday weekend. Friday we spent the day grilling and hanging out at a friend's house and later that night walked over to Freedom Fest to enjoy the fireworks. We also happened to enjoy the homemade tamales and funnel cake. Sean swears he had a wonderful birthday, so as long as he says it was great for him then I'm satisfied.

Saturday was our anniversary and although it wasn't a grand affair we still had a lot of fun and enjoyed our day together. We started out in Natchitoches and planned on staying there the entire day, but due to the heat and the both of us not feeling well we headed to Alexandria for an early dinner and then back home to just relax and watch movies. Natchitoches was awesome! I'm going to have to go back there when it's a little bit cooler and I don't feel as if I'm going to pass out in the heat. I found the cutest magnets in one of the shops there. They are Cajun magnets and have things like an alligator, houseboat, accordian and other things on them. I'll have to take a picture of them to show how adorable they are. I did get to take some pictures there, although not as many as I would like. It's definetly a town worth visiting again though.

Here are a few pics from our fun-filled weekend

Save the drama for your mama!

This morning was quite stressful and I hope not to have another morning like it for some time. Basically a former friend of mine told me what a horrible person I am because of a situation he messed up with a mutal friend of ours. There's only so many times I can take someone telling me I have an ugly inside and bringing up past mistakes of mine before I want to snap and tell them off. Which is pretty much what I did.

I make mistakes and I haven't always treated this individual the nicest I could have, but he's bordering on harassment and I've just had enough.

Other than that the day has been great. I had an amazing Cajun roast beef sandwhich from a local cafe and I'm getting my new front tires on and an alignment done as we speak. After work I'm going by Wal-Mart to purchase a gift for the baby shower and then hopefully Sean will be home at a decent time so I can spend a little time with him before we are apart for 3 days. I know he's going to miss me and my silly ways. The other night when I came back from the gym he was cooking in the kitchen and I burst in there singing Christopher Cross's "Moon and New York City" song. He just had a quizzical look on his face and then smiled shaking his head. At least I keep things interesting right?

I wanted to thank everyone who gave me feedback on my last blog. It did me good to hear your opinions. That's one reason why I love blogging so much because I get to hear opinions of others and that's always important to me.

Well, they called and said my car is ready. Guess I should go pick it up!

4:00...hurry up!

We leave at 4:00 on Fridays here at the office and it's all I can do not to get up and run out of here now. We have had no work to do in the last four hours and so I've been surfing various websites since then. (BTW...office policy says that's ok, don't think I'm a slacker)

I just want to start my weekend already! Hurry up 4:00!

I would really like to stop by the jewelry store and get a new nose ring, but I don't really want to go out of my way to do that, so I might just wait until later this weekend. Besides I'm starving and piece of bread with pesto on it sounds amazingly good right now.

Ok, so this is totally off-topic but I've noticed something down here in Louisiana that I've never seen before. Since I work down by the courthouse/sheriff's office I see inmates everyday, they are always outside doing some kind of labor. Sure I've seen inmates picking up trash by the roads before, but never outside everyday doing some kind of work. I guess that's more of a Deep South thing a la Cool Hand Luke? That's the movie where Paul Newman is on a Chain Gang right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been texting Sean on and off throughout the day and apparently he is cooking dinner, which isn't rare for him and also swears he's going to clean the house sometime this weekend. I'd actually rather do it myself when I get home today, but he insisted to let him do it. Guess we shall see how that goes. I need to clean out our car too. It's littered with military equipment, wrappers and various other things that need to be sorted through and cleaned out. Vaccumed too, since I don't like seeing a collection of Boomer hair on my seats.

I hope the weather stays good this weekend, we've been having a lot of storms off and on the last few weeks. Almost makes me think I've never left Oklahoma. Now that's unpredictable weather! If you've never lived in Oklahoma you just have no idea. Even Will Rogers has a famous quote about Oklahoma weather, "If you don't like the weather, just wait awhile and it will change."

This really isn't a quality post from me, but my mind is racing and so I'm going to end it here.

Ahh....the weekend

Ah...it's Friday. My favorite time of the week. A whole weekend ahead of me. What to do?

I'm not really sure what Sean and I are up to this weekend. He originally thought he was going to work, but found out today he doesn't, so that's a whole free weekend for us. I think I might be making dinner for Sean and his friend Skeen sometime this weekend, but other than that I'm planless. I'm sure I'll fit some working out and cleaning in there somewhere. It seems as if there's always something to clean around our house.

In the mornings when I'm taking Sean to work he likes to listen to talk radio, it just so happens that in the paticular time slot that I take him to work Dr. Laura is on. So let me ask you this. Does anyone dislike Dr. Laura as much as I do? I find her to be extremely condescending and all around a big know-it-all. Sometimes her advice isn't so bad, but she just comes across as either you take her advice or continue to screw up your life. I don't think she's right all the time and just listening to her aggravates me. As soon as Sean's out of the car I always have to change it just because she irritates me so much.

I had some gumbo today. It was pretty good although I would have liked to have had some shrimp in it. My former roomate Mari made gumbo for us a few years ago and it was probably the most delicious gumbo I've ever had. She had chicken, shrimp and sausage in it. So good....today's gumbo was filling though.

I've been trying out a lot of new recipes lately. The Kraft food magazines that I have been collecting the last few years is where I get the majority of my recipes. They're always so easy and don't have a lot of complicated ingredients to get. Last night I made a pasta dish that was pretty good. A little bit of a tangier sauce would have made it perfect I think. I always love it when Sean cooks though. He's honestly the better cook of the two of us. See....I'm a recipe follower. Sean is more of a instinct type of cook. He just knows when things are ready. I think the things he makes the best are potatoes. Since we've been together he's made a lot of different potato dishes and they are always to die for. If any of you out there ever visits us I recommend that you request him to cook.

I'm still looking for a job. I guess I didn't get the Internet Department Director job at the car lot since they have yet to contact me and he was supposed to make his decision in the middle of this week. I'm ok with that. I just know that by the end of this month I need to be making money. I actually applied for an on-post job yesterday which pretty much is what I've been looking for. It's a Museum Specialist at the museum here and I'd be cataloging items and basically creating an archive. I honestly don't feel qualified for it, but how will I ever learn those specific techniques unless I get a job with a museum? That's why I went ahead and applied for it. The worst they can say is no. I just want to find something soon.

Well....I think I'm out. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!
