Christmas Aftermath

I had a wonderful Christmas this year, despite not being able to spend it at home with my family.

Both Sean and my family spoiled me with presents. My friends did as well.

I got the Beatles anthology, Vera Wang perfume and a terabyte external hard drive from Sean.

My parents got me some movies, some books, an Epson printer/scanner/copier that's wireless, 18pc Wolfgang Puck Cookware Set and a ton of other great stuff. Probably one of the most memorable gifts was from my Dad. He sent Sean and I a homemade "Jelly of the Month Club" box straight out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Each jar of jelly had a printed label with a quote from the movie. It was hilarious!

I also got some awesome Philosophy Cinnamon body wash and a FiestaWare pitcher and spoon rest from my friends.

I got to Skype with my parents and brother during the afternoon and we opened presents and also with one set of my grandparents. It wasn't the same as being at home, but I have to hand it to technology. I'm not sure that ten years ago this would have all been possible.

My Mom sent me a picture that my family took together on Christmas Eve to let Sean and I know how much we were missed at home this year. I admit that I cried when I saw it.

How was your Christmas? What was your favorite gift that you got?

Helping Out Santa

I've got a question for all you ladies out there.

Do you "help" Santa?

As in...how much help do you give your husband when it comes to Christmas presents?

Lists? Subtle and not so subtle hints? Or do you actually buy the present, wrap it and then act surprised?

This year I'm falling into the last catergory.

Somehow I knew even though I'd mentioned this to Sean that it wasn't going to make it under my tree unless I gave him a little help.

Ahem... cough cough...a lot of help.

I admit I get a little irritated that "Santa" needs so much help. I don't have any problems whatsoever shopping for Sean.

Is it just a man thing? Or do I have a crummy present picker?

I'm curious to know how your husband/fiancee/boyfriend does in the present department.

Lay it on me!

Oh yeah...

15 Days Until Christmas!

Dear Taylor Swift: please stop doing live performances.

I've had a great morning so far. Banana Nut Bread is calling my name in the break room and a co-worker has some fresh sweet potatoes that she gave me. I'm so excited! I absolutely love sweet potatoes and I'm looking forward to baking a few of them. Maybe some sweet potato fries are in order too.

One of my best friends, Kebi, told me about this awesome deal that she saw on Oprah.

It's the Snapfish photo book and it's free! Just upload the 20 pics you want in it and wha la! Awesome present to yourself or family.

Here's the link.

I spent this morning making a Excel spreadsheet of Thanksgiving food and who was bringing what. Then I transferred that over to a nice letter that Sean could hand out to those that will be attending Thanksgiving at our home. He said everyone has been asking him what to bring, so I thought outlining what people had already volunteered for might help a bit in that department.

Sean and I are already been arguing discussing what is going to be on our TV on Thanksgiving morning. Being a traditional type of gal and well..sometimes a bit of a diva, I'm insisting on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I wake up early for it and watch it every, single year. He's talking football pre-game. We do have more than one tv, but perhaps I can put one in the kitchen while I'm making dinner. Hmm......good thought on that one.

Did anyone watch the CMA's last night? I did until I passed out around 9:00. Can I just say I really enjoy Taylor Swift on the radio, but live she sounds awful? I've dismissed it at first as just a fluke, but after three or four times of listening to her live I've decided she's just not as good in person.

In the good news department I've already gotten three gifts on my Christmas list. I still have a lot to buy, but at least it's a start! Anyone else out there already shopping or already done completely?

Oh and thank you so much to Holly over at In Over My Active Head for this lovely award! Awards always make my day and this one was no exception!

Also go check out http://www.happylizzz.com/ for a great giveaway. I heard of it through Wandering DC, so be sure to go over and enter for the giveaway. It's a Target giftcard and a Starbucks giftcard. Who doesn't love either of those?

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!

Presents and Polyvore

You gals made me laugh by thinking my last blog title was about X Couple coming to dinner. Trust me, X Couple will not be coming to dinner anytime soon. I'm quite certain they won't be coming to dinner until Thanksgiving and that's just fine by me. I do need to borrow X Baby for a photo shoot though.....

Today is my mom's birthday! I called her this morning on my way to work and wished her a happy birthday. Well, actually I sang in a ridiculous voice, but I know she enjoyed it. I opted not to send her a card, but instead will give her a card and present when she gets here tomorrow. I have part of her present, I just need to get the other part of it. My mom is tough to buy for, not because she's picky, just because she's a hard person to shop for.

Sara and I are having a good time (well I can't speak for her, but I'm having a great time) I'll update on that later and hopefully I'll have some pictures of us to go with it.

I still don't feel like it's fall yet. I'm not sure I'll really get that feeling here in Louisiana, but this 80 degree weather is throwing me off my fall vibe! It's hard to get in the pre-holiday spirit when you are sweating buckets in the heat. Bad mental image I know, but it had to be said!

Remember the perfect sweater dress I mentioned last week? I went ahead and ordered it yesterday. I've waited too long a few times and items have been out of stock on Forever21.com, so I bit the bullet and ordered it. Now I just need cold weather so I can wear it to work. I can't wait to get it in!

Have any of you ever been on Polyvore.com? It is amazing! I've been using it off and on for about a year now and it's just a fun little time-waster. You can design whole themes and schemes with clothes, backgrounds and accessories.

This is my Very Marilyn collection:

Honey I'm Home!

When I got home from work yesterday this is what greeted me.

Gorgeous flowers from my sweet husband. He knows exactly what I want. Pink roses and stargazer lilies are my two favorites!

He also bought me some Nina Ricci perfume I've been eyeing at the PX. It smells heavenly!

This is everything he got me. Part of it was my late birthday present, which I didn't mind a bit. He's been really busy at work the last few weeks and so I didn't mind waiting an extra week for my presents.

He did get me the Break-Up DVD, which I asked him if that was some sort of hint. Ha ha...he just laughed and assured me it wasn't.

The kitchen was also spotless when I got home and dinner was on the stove. Do I have the best husband or what?

He completley made my month with that little gesture yesterday. I'm a very happy wife!
