Today I'm going to be a bit of a Chatty Cathy. I've got a lot on my mind.
1. Thanks for the birthday comments yesterday. They made my day!
2. I got my Forever 21 order in today. Nothing like new clothes to brighten my day.
3. This is totally random, but I love vintage or vintage-esque shirts. I ordered one with this last clothing order and it's so cute.
4. My boss is leaving for a similiar position in Germany. I've decided to give it some time here and see how I like the person who replaces her. Then depending on that and if I start my Masters I may or may not continue to work here. Don't get me wrong, I like it here, I like the money and I feel grateful to have a job overseas BUT sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on the whole overseas experience.
5. Megan starting her own business has encouraged me to work some more on starting my own photography business. Currently I'm researching some more lenses/lighting equipment. What I want my website to look like and I'm still working on the name for my business.
I do have a question for you out there and please be honest. Would you purchase photography prints of the subjects that I shoot? Such as travel, landscape, etc. Eventually I want to photograph children, families, etc, but I also want to continue to do other forms of photography.
I love photography prints. I have one my brother took in Europe somewhere (he's kill me for not knowing where) hanging over my couch. I've thought about buying more photography prints as an alternative to much more pricey art prints. And since I know you through this whole blog world, I'd be much more likely to buy something from you than some random person on etsy or something. That's just my two cents.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah above. I'm more likely to buy something from someone I "know." I really like the photos you take, and the effort you put into retouching them. I wanna see more!
ReplyDeleteI need some high res prints to go with a few I have. I need them blown up super big, so the ones from places like Rome with my old camera won't work. If you had prints that could be blown up and would match mine- heck yeah! You better ship to APO though :) he he...
ReplyDeleteBeing a "amature" photographer myself, I'd be more likely to just print out my own things... but one thing I would want is someone I know to take pix of my family --
ReplyDeleteSo fun you shopped today! Nothing like retail therapy ;)
I LOVE landscape/still image photography. So yes, I would definitely buy some of your prints, I seriously need more pictures up in my house.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, i love your obsession with Forever 21. And what did you decide to get your master's in?
It depends. My husband and I like large pictures to decorate the house with. There was one of the Eiffel tower that we loved. we didn't get it because it was like $300 though.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything. I think you should definitely keep your range broad. You could always inquire about doing freelance for a magazine or something.
Your photos are fantastic! I love landscape/travel pics and I would absolutely buy some of your prints! Black and whites really catch my eye for some reason. I'm curious about your masters too- what field are you interested in?
ReplyDeleteThere were two prints, one landscape and one sea scape, that I would have paid money for.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday! I love the vintage look also, would totally buy a print of that :)
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to purchase photography prints taken of places for which I have a soft spot. Like chile. I found photos on flicr of my old town and told the author how much I appreciated his work. It looked just like I remembered it and loved it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I second what sarah says. I would personally buy your photos because I know you and am honored to hang your pieces in my home as it is.
I completely agree with Sarah. I like photography more than art, so I'm more inclined to purchase that, but also, I like to buy from people I know (as long as it's good -- which it is!)
ReplyDeleteA photographer friend of mine gave me the tip to check out http://www.slrgear.com for lenses/equipment. They do really comprehensive reviews and such!
ReplyDeleteI've never bought photography prints, but your stuff is definitely good enough to sell. Have you posted your stuff on Etsy, Flickr, or deviantart?
I know NOTHING about photography, but I do know that I always LOVE your pictures. I also know that I have no real "grown up" pictures to hang in my house. I would be ecstatic to buy your prints for our everyday viewing pleasure!
ReplyDeleteI love photography, especially if its a place I've seen, or want to see. Most of the photos I currently have are just snapshots, but I dated a photographer for five years, so I really appreciate beautiful landscapes and travel sites.
ReplyDeleteI'd also be in the camp of wanting to buy a print from someone I knew, just because I want to support friends, and because I know there'd be a cool story to hear about the photo. :)
I would totally buy your prints, probably because they'd be places we've seen too! I'm sure you'd take a better photo than I could. But even still, I do like buying nice photo prints.
