This is a day for opinions lady, so I'm coming to you first!
Remember awhile back when I mentioned getting a GPS? Well, I am thinking about getting the Garmin nuvi 275T. It already has pre-loaded maps for both North America and Europe. Does anyone have that particular model? Do you like it? Is there anything else I need to purchase for this that I don't know about? I'm totally clueless when it comes to tech things.
Secondly, I'm thinking about buying Sean a small point and shoot camera for when he is deployed. He's been mentioning he wants something to take with him, but I'm not sure what to get. I was considering a Canon PowerShot. As they are smaller, seem to be a good price for what you get, etc. Any opinions on that or any other cameras?
Last but not least, what do you think of this maxi dress?
I mean, I like it, but if you saw someone else wearing it would you think cute or hideous? Honest answers please!
Oh..and check out this awful dress I found on Forever21! Normally I LOVE their stuff, but this looks like a feedsack.
I hope you all have a fab weekend. My plans for going anywhere have been canceled. Where they removed the tooth doesn't hurt at all, but I do have a headache like you wouldn't believe. So, I'm designating this weekend as tan, watch Will and Grace and veg on the couch weekend.
We have a Garmin nuvi and didn't have to buy anything else with it. It comes with the thing that attaches it to your windshield. We never go anywhere without ours. :)
ReplyDeleteMaxi dress is cute. Other dress? good lord. hideous.
ReplyDeleteI just bought that first Maxi dress from 21 this week! It's really heavy..be pre warned.
ReplyDeleteUm...I have a fugifilm point an shoot and it's really good
OMG. Forever 21? Come on!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the maxi dress. I'd think you were some fashionista just hopping through Europe, not a care in the world. ;)
We have a Navigon we bought at the PX. We LOOOOOVE it! It automatically updates with road changes/closures, traffic congestion, etc. It's pre-loaded with NA and European maps, but for 20 euro (the special deal we got as opposed to the normal 100 euro), you get updated NA and Euro maps as well. I'd find a website that does comparisons for different models; it's a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a new point ant shoot, so I'm interested to see what you get. Come to think of it, I'm going to put a GPS on our registry, so I'm also interested to see that, too!
ReplyDeleteWe don't go anywhere without our Garmin. Everything you need comes in the box!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Maxi dress!!!
The 21 dress is ummm....yeah...it speaks for itself.
I would think that a point and shoot would be great for him to take during his deployment!
My parents just got a Garmin - not sure of the model. I've been playing with it since I've been home and have found it really easy to use. They bought it through AAFES and I think the one they got is even on sale right now. As far as I know everything needed was included...I'm not an expert though because I wasn't around for the purchase.
ReplyDeleteI have a Kodak point-n-shoot. My last two cameras have been Kodak so I'm super comfortable with their menus, etc. The one I have now is nice and slim and take great pictures (in my non-photographer opinion). I also know people with Sonys that like them...
I'm so done typing now. Have fun relaxing this weekend!
I have that Garmin and LOVE IT! I've named my Gertrude :) It's great because it tells you the street name "turn left on Main St" is much better than "Turn left" Depending on your car you wont need to buy any extra attachment, mine is stuck to the center console.
ReplyDeleteHey girl! Love the Maxi dress, the second 21 dress, not so much...
ReplyDeleteAs for the camera, I have two Fujifilm cameras. My husband just bought me a FUJIFILM Waterproof FinePix. Its takes good pictures, is waterproof, really durable, a large photo screen and has shock resistance in case it's dropped. I think it would be good for deployment.
The second dress shoudn't even be around to buy! Yucko!
ReplyDeleteBut the first??? You could totally pull off! With one of those big (straw) flappy hats??? Def chic!
:)
I have a Canon Powershot and absolutely LOVE IT! Takes really good pictures! My mom recently bought one too!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I can't help you much with...any of this. I have a TomTom and I really don't recommend it that much. I DO, however, have a little Kodak point-and-shoot. I'm positive that you can't buy this model anymore, but it's four or five year old now and has survived every child in my family and misc. hundreds of children in Africa who weren't exactly "nice" on it. And it still works perfectly. It's ridiculously durable!
ReplyDeleteI have a little Cannon powershot that I bought for myself when Keith deployed with his. That is a great gift idea and I love getting pictures from him and visa versa! The camera seems to work well, except the batteries run down pretty quickly. I bought four rechargable batteries and the recharge thinga-ma-bob.
ReplyDeleteI've been using a Canon PowerShot SD100 from the ELPH series and I love it. I think they are great for the price. Second Canon digital camera I've had and I loved them both and they were way better in comparison to other's I tried.
ReplyDeleteGrrrr! Every time you post a new Forever21 dress i go to their site and buy something (except for that second "ensemble")
ReplyDeleteThe long maxi dress is REALLY cute! Those are totally in right now.
I have a garmin Nuvi (Not sure what model but it has world maps) and i LOVE it!
1. The GPS - My Father in Law has a Garmin and he loves it.
ReplyDelete2. I have an older Canon PowerShot and it's great! It's not an amazing camera but it does what I need it to do.
3. I've never been a fan of maxi dresses, so I'll leave this up to the more fashionably conscious.
4. The other dress is really yucky; usually ugly dresses have a pretty model wearing them but even on that model the dress looks awful.
I have a Garmin Nuvi and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it... I named her Gabby though because she does talk quite a bit. It's very helpful though, because she's good at reminding you where to turn.
ReplyDeleteThe maxi dress is really cute! The other one...yuck!!
ReplyDeleteI have a Sony Cyber-shot, which I really love. The only bad thing I've heard about digital cameras are about the Kodak ones, so I would stay away from them. But other than that I'm not too sure.
ReplyDeleteI think that is the same GPS my mom has, it works really well, and I have the 205 and it works wonderfully too! I think you can't really go wrong with a Garmin. Mine came with all the accessories, minus a case for it which I plan on making when I get my sewing stuff set up.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the maxi dress, but I know some people like that look! The second one is terrible. I think I see that one regularly at Goodwill.
*Garmin I know nothing about. I have one. It works pretty good. But i have no clue about the model and hubs just took it with him.
ReplyDelete*I just got a Nikon Coolpix S220 and love it. Again.. don't know much about cameras and know that you know much much more, but it's really light, puts little squares around faces to let you know it recognizes them, and sometimes if it thinks someone blimks in a pic, it will ask you and let you decide if you want to keep it!
*LOVE the maxi dress!! I want one for myself
After a ton of research my dad did (he's a communications officer in the marine corps so he deals a lot with technology) he bought will and I the nuvi for Christmas . We use it now in Germany and it is so great- never gets lost or confused. You don't need anything else with it either. The pronunciation is phonetic (?) so it sounds funny when saying street names but otherwise is very very good and totally worth it- get it. As for cameras I have the Sony cybershot and it's areally good camera and fool proof.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress and I would definitely wear it myself (well...I'd have to try it on first)!
ReplyDeleteI htink the dress is way cute. I just can't pull those off! The other dress....not so much!
ReplyDeleteI have a Garmin nuvi but I think it's a 200 or 210? I love it.
ReplyDeleteMatt took his camera over to Astan with him and he said that he has TONS of pictures to show me when he gets home for R&R.
I think the maxi dress is cute but the feedbag.. hahaha.
I LOVE my Canon Powershot. I needed a small camera to carry around with me during the day and when I am out with friends and this has come in handy so many times (most, if not all of the photos on my blog now are from that camera). It's really easy to use, compact, and just over all great. I would totally recommend it for him! Plus it takes good video!
ReplyDeleteHey so its Lauren and I am back! Had to delete the old blog but wanted to know if you wanted a invite to follow my new one. just lemme know! Laters!
ReplyDeleteI have a garmin but I'm not sure which model - the 200 something? it's pink and was released for breast cancer awareness. I've had two garmins and I love them both.
ReplyDeleteI don't love the maxi dress. I'm sorry! I'm not a fan of the contrasting prints.
I love my Canon point and shoot. It's seriously awesome. It's my second one (replaced the first after three and a half years), and it takes awesome pictures. It took my profile pic, along with many others. Plus it's compact and battery lasts awhile.
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on the maxi dress trend, but that one is cute!
I got my husband an Olympus point and shoot digital camera during his last deployment. I got it because it was waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. The guy at best buy said it was popular with deploying guys.
ReplyDeleteMy advice for deployment presents: Whatever you get him, just plan on not seeing it again. Some things will survive (the camera did), but the dust there gets into EVERYTHING.
We bought my husband the cheap Canon Powershot from Walmart to take on deployment with him, the orange one, and it is a good little camera. He says that the battery life is good and the pictures look excellent.
ReplyDeleteJust my two cents on the matter. :)
Let me know which GPS you end up getting. I have one and LOVE it, but I'm not sure it'll work in Europe. I'm sure there is a way to download the maps and will get the hubby on that asap. If not, I will be buying a new one once we get there. I am ever so slightly directionally challenged:)
