So over the past 24 hours Percocet and I have become great friends. I think Boomer thought I was crazy when I busted out some Michael Jackson moves while cleaning the kitchen. I'll attribute that to my new friend. I went back to the dentist today and explained I was still in a lot of pain, even with the painkillers. After a lot of Novacaine, some intense pressure and a few moments of some pain I'm now without that bothersome tooth. I have to admit I wasn't brave the entire time though, at one point I broke down and pretty much sobbed for him to please take out the tooth. I asked for it as a momento and also so I could show Sean since he has no idea any of this is going on. I won't be able to speak with him until Monday, so I'm sure he'll be pretty suprised. Now I'm sitting at home, just taking it easy and trying to catch up on some blog reading.
I've designated today as Flashback Friday. It was the Glow-Worm earrings from Awesomely Bad Etsy Items that got me thinking about 80's toys.
Let's take a walk down memory lane shall we?
No list would be complete without the original Nintendo system. My family actually never upgraded from this system. Ours actually still works. A game of Super Mario 3 anyone?
Remember Rainbow Brite? I had the green doll.
What about MoonDreamers? I think there was a cartoon series that went along with them. I had this exact doll!
Pogo Ball anyone? I remember my cousin had one, yet I never mastered it!
Pound Puppies and Pound Purries were awesome! I had some of each and they were so fun to play with!
These are just a few that I thought of. What are some toys from your childhood that you loved?
i had every single one of these!! and would love to get them all for my little miss!!
ReplyDeletePopples! And Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony and Kitty Surprise!
ReplyDelete80s toys were the BEST!! I still have my old school Nintendo. Love it!! What a fun trip down memory lane. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I still have our original Nintendo too! It's crazy, our house burnt down when I was 13 and the Nintendo was one of the only things to make it through the fire! Working!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I just literally received an old-school Nintendo for my birthday!! I played some Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros 3 yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI very definitely had the rainbow brite, I remember the MoonDreamers (I think there was a show too). And I still have the Pound Puppies. The other ones I loved were He-Man and She-Ra, My Little Ponies and Strawberry Shortcake! I still have some of those toys somewhere...
Glad you got the tooth taken care of! :)
Don't forget Care Bears :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and did you have a Speak-n-Spell? That was the coolest!
Nothing like the "new friend" to bring you back to the 80's. I was all about My Little Pony, that was the rainbows, unicorns & sticker book phase.
ReplyDeleteWe were still old school with the Atari and MS PacMan!
Glad your bad toof is gone.
I love Nintendo! We have a Wii now and I only play the "old school" games like Super Mario :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got rid of the tooth!! Hope your mouth starts feeling better!!!
ReplyDeleteUm, Puppy Surprise and Polly Pocket were staples of my youth!
I loved my Puffalump! It was blue....Popples rock, too!
ReplyDeleteYay pogo ball! :) We had the "big sister" dolls that were our height...yet had very flat faces. And cabbage patch kids, of course!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they got you in and that the percocet is being friendly. I went in for my third visit today; it wasn't healing well, suprise, suprise, and the oral surgeon has been packing the lower cavity with gauze to prevent infection. I have one last visit on Monday and then I'm done and on to veneers! Much more fun and painless.
ReplyDeleteI still have all of my My Little Ponies; they were my favorite. And on my nineth birthday I dearly wanted a Cabbage Patch doll.
I love my Rainbow Brite doll, along with my little Sprite and the green sprite and the horse whose name escapes me now.
ReplyDeleteThe original NES is still the best! Ours doesn't work anymore :(
I was also really obsessed with Jem. I watched every show, had the doll, and wore that tape out that came with it!
The only one I don't remember was the dream doll - my sisters might though! I miss being able to just play with toys all day. Ah, to be a kid again!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're starting to feel better now that the tooth is out!
ReplyDeleteI remember almost all of those toys! Remember Jem and the Holograms!!
I had all of these things! Except the nintendo, my parents wouldn't budge on that one. But the rainbow brite and pound puppies were some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteMy roommate bought an old school nintendo on ebay in college for $10. I was briefly addicted to Duck Hunt.
Looooved super mario 3! Spent hours playing Nintendo with my younger brother... Laura in Ludwigsburg at baroquebabies.com, come over and say hello when you have a chance!

ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention the pogo ball, I use something very similar to that at physical therapy every week. I was born in the 80's, so I remember a few of those things, my brother had the original Nintendo for a while, and I remember seeing Rainbow Brites and Pound Puppies.
ReplyDeleteOmg this is one of my favorites posts!
ReplyDeleteEVER.
I had a popples bedsheet and had every single thing there!
Haha! Oh how fun!
ReplyDeleteI had a skip it, my little ponies and the yellow sunshine carebear stuffed animal.
I'm back again! I gave you an award to help with your recovery... :) Check my blog for details! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletei hope you start feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI was far more into My Little Pony, She-re, Jem, and Care Bears. But I do remember Pound Puppies and the rest!
ReplyDeleteAhh, Nintendo, how I love thee! I miss those good ol' slap bracelets!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better soon!
I still have my regular nintendo too! I won it in college playing jeopardy, lol. My roommate and I would rent dr mario and play for hours. I am a pro at it still and at tetris.
