Taking On A Challenge

So, I have officially decided to participate in the Picture a Day for a Year that I've seen floating around on the web.

I've been putting off doing it since we didn't have Internet at our house yet, but now that we do, I see no point in putting it off.

I'm doing this because:

A. I think it will force me to become a better photographer
B. It'll be a great way to document my life living in Italy

I don't think I'll be posting every picture on my blog, but I'm sure I'll have a Picasa album and link on my sidebar so that you guys can check it out if you want.

*Edited to Add* I have decided after some thought to turn my 365 photo challenge into a separate blog. So you can check it out at www.newgirlpics.blogspot.com. I decided to call it, "A Picture Is Worth a 1000 Words".

So...without further ado.

My very first picture.

These are some choclate chip cookies I made. I've been making them at home as well as the USO and it appears they are already a hit there.

I swear by Andrea's recipe. They are simply the best chocolate chip cookies ever! I highly recommend them.

In other news, Sean didn't end up jumping yesterday. He said about 60 people did, but about a 100 didn't get to. I guess too many chutes got wet and they didn't have enough time to dry them....so he was back home around midnight.

Also yesterday I had the funniest encounter with some little Italian kids that live in a house next to our apartment. I took Boomer outside and they loved him! They kept shouting "Piccolo cane!" (Small dog) So I took him over to them and let them pet him. The two kids were a boy and a girl who were probably around 8 years old. They asked me what Boomer's name was and what my name was. Then the little boy started rattling off in Italian. I can catch bits and pieces, but I'm still not anywhere close to knowing a ton of the language so I had to tell him "Non capisco" (I don't understand) He asked if I was American and then the little girl asked where I lived and then the little boy said something about me not speaking Italian, but English and the sweet little girl told him I didn't speak very much Italian, but I could understand them.

It was hilarious! I felt bad, because I couldn't really talk to them like I would like to, but maybe in time that would happen, but I was proud of myself for at least knowing part of what they were saying.

Well..that's my picture and stories from today!

Ciao!
