Indiana Jones?

Sean and I did go to Venice yesterday for a few hours and I got a couple of pictures. Nothing too fascinating though. We decided to eat a Hard Rock and although I didn't have high expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. Sean and I shared some loaded nachos (complete with sour cream and guacamole) I haven't had guacamole in FOREVER and it was seriously heaven on earth.

While at Hard Rock I had the opportunity of seeing Indiana Jones.

Harrison Ford you ask? Nope, just some random dude dressed like Indiana Jones complete with whip. I have NO idea why he was dressed like that because the people with him were dressed normally. I told Sean I'd give him ten bucks if went up and asked him if he'd found the Temple of Doom yet.

Speaking of dresses...I have no idea why women, European and American alike, think it's a good idea to wear light colored clothing with colored underwear underneath. White dress with blue panties? Not ok. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this in the last month.

Oh..and a big thanks to everyone who gave me drink suggestions the other day. I'm going to write some of them down and try them. You gave me a ton of new ideas for the next time I go out.

Thursday Tidbits

Thanks everyone for your feedback yesterday, I'm sure I'll be asking you plenty of more questions in the future.

Boomer has been cracking me up lately. We have tons of lizards around here and he is intent on catching one. He's come close a copule of times, but has yet to nab one. Watching him go after them is priceless.

Go visit Kebi over at Hanging By a Thread! She's giving away some awesome Sanuk sandals and you don't want to miss out!

I started watching the first season of True Blood last night. I'm already hooked and I've seriously seen one episode. Sean has watched more of the first season and told me he wasn't sure I would like it. Wrong! Love it. Although Anna Paquin's attempt at a Southern accent could be better.

Sean and I went out to dinner last night and midway through dinner he started breaking out in hives. We're pretty positive it was the pink sauce (salsa rosa) they served with the shrimp, because he is not allergic to shellfish, but has had that happen while eating Thousand Island dressing before. He apologized for making it a short dinner experience, but you can't really blame him for that. It's not like he tried to get hives. Besides, I still got to enjoy my shrimp risotto.

We are considering a short trip to Venice on Saturday. I have a few things I want to pick up there. 1. An animal Carnival mask 2. An item or two for my upcoming giveaway and 3. Sean still wants to eat at Hard Rock. Sometimes it feels weird to say, "Hey, let's go to Venice for a few hours."

Picture and a Punch

The Picture: My favorite picture from the most recent trip to Venice.

The Punch: Do you ever have days when you really just want to sock your significant other for something stupid/selfish they've done that really pisses you off?

I'm having a day like that.

Off to Cinque Terre tomorrow!

Grandma Dresses

First off, I wanted to say sorry to all those blogs that I subscribe to and regularly comment on. I haven't been around the computer much at all, but I promise in about a week I'll be back. Until then I know you guys understand why I'm not around much.

The trip to Venice yesterday was great. I was expecting it to be hot and crowded, but it really was neither. I'll try to post pics and more of a trip report tomorrow or the next day, but until then know there was the Great Train Adventure of 2009. No, I didn't miss the train, but it's a halfway interesting story so look for it soon.

Today we're all kind of resting and I made scones today. Orange and cranberry to be exact and they are delish. I've posted about them before, but I'm not taking the time to look for that post. If you want the recipe go on over to Andrea's blog and click the tab under recipes, you'll find it if you do a little searching. Sean is making steaks and potatoes tonight, so we're all looking forward to that.

My mom and I have been looking at some pictures of me when I was little today and they are a hoot. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I was a very precocious and amusing child. One of these days I'll scan a few pictures so you can get a good laugh.

So, I've been wearing some of the dresses I recently ordered from Forever 21 and Sean made the comment the other day, "Why are you wearing all these grandma dresses?" I scoffed and told him they were fashionable. Well, today I was wearing this little number:

And I had two people compliment me on it. Both over the age of 40. Hmmm...maybe he was right?

Venice

So, yesterday after an early start, Sean and I decided despite the weather we were going to Venice.

I'm really glad we did, because it only sprinkled on and off while we were there, the rest of the time it was pretty sunny and sometimes actually hot.

Can I just say though that I suck at using the trains? This was our first encounter with the train. We nagivated buying the tickets just fine from the little machine in the lobby, we even made it out to the right platform, but catching the train? That was another story. We'd bought tickets for the fast train, but weren't sure what car we got on and where our seats were. Sean and I plus a group of about 4 Americans completely missed our train.

So...Sean and I just hopped the regional train that came up next.

We made it Venice without any more drama (Thank God)

Venice looked exactly how I thought it would. I mean that in a good way.

Sean and I's mission on this trip was to get a feel for Venice, take some pictures and enjoy the food. We saw most of the major sights, but didn't tour any of them this time around. Some of my family is coming in June and I thought I'd be able to do that with them. Plus Venice is at most an hour away by train, so I'm sure before I leave I'll visit a lot.

Anyway, we had some delish food. Ravioli with speck (a type of ham), classico sandwich, spritz, glasses of Roboso wine. I got pictures of all of it except the delish Nutella crepe that I had.

We got lost a lot, which was ok most of the time. I enjoyed seeing all the little back streets and less crowded spaces. However, Sean and I were more than ready to get back to the train station and somehow it took us like 2 hours to get back. We vowed next time we will buy Vaporetto (water bus) tickets as soon as we get out of the train station to minimize that happening to us.

I have yet to even upload the pictures from my camera onto my computer, but I'll try to do that tonight so you guys can see some pics either late this evening or tomorrow.

Ciao!
