Since I'm lazy and feel more like enjoying the last few hours of what looks to be an actualy sunny/warm day here in Italy, I'm just going to do a short list of what's going on instead of boring you (and me) with a long drawn out post of what I've been doing the past 16 days.
Went to Dublin, Ireland for 3 days. Enjoyed the friendly people, delicious food and sights. I did not enjoy the downright chilly weather we encountered or getting up at 3:30 a.m. to make the flight home to Italy.
Have been a total slacker in the workout department for the past week and a half. I'm to a new low with my weight and body image. No matter what I do, I'm not losing weight or even toning up. I think a lot of it has to do with my eating, so come Monday, I'm revamping and going back to the eating plan that helped me lost 20 lbs in the first place.
Had to visit the doctor twice. Once for a yearly womans' exam and when that exam showed abnormal cells, I had to go back in for a colposcopy. That just happens to be my second procedure in 5 years and quite frankly, it sucks. I hope not to repeat it again anytime soon.
Canceled my trip to Paris to see a friend I haven't seen in 6 years, because the trip to Ireland was more expensive than we both thought and we had to replace a broken laptop. I could have dug out of our savings, but being responsible, I didn't feel like that was the best idea.
Woke up with vertigo on Thursday morning. I pray if you haven't experienced vertigo, that you never will. It's awful. This is the second time it's happened to me in a year and I think I'll be going to the doctor soon to see what they can do for me so in the future I don't have to wait 3.5 hours to stop feeling like I want to puke my guts out.
Still have not heard a peep about when we are leaving Italy. In the meantime I am planning possible locations for us to go if there is a long weekend in May. Prague, Lisbon and Athens are on that list.
Our electricity went out today as we *gasp* had our indoor grill, dryer and PS3 all on at the same time. Now...due to that our water heater is not working and flashing some sort of code about a broken sensor. Our maintenance guy is coming by this afternoon. I'm praying he fixes it, as the thought of no hot water for the rest of the weekend is more than I can bear.
This week has been all kinds of crazy. For starters, we've had 3 earthquakes in the last few days. Two of which I've felt. The strongest has been 5.2 and it happened yesterday. Each time it happens I think I'm crazy, then I realize I'm not imagining things, the floor really is shaking. It gives me an uber-creepy feeling.
Still no word on when we are leaving Italy or where we will be going. I just love not knowing things! We had a brief about this whole medboard process last week and being the good wife that I am, I went with Sean. UGH! It was the worst 3 hours EVER. To begin with, there were 5 of us crammed in a small office trying to look at slides off a desktop. The gentlemen giving the brief liked to spend at least 20 minutes on each slide, when it wasn't even necessary to do so. He also liked to name-drop and tell stories of things that had absolutely NOTHING to do with what we were discussing. Not to mention he also kept talking about "The Orient." I told Sean later that I wasn't aware we'd gone back to the 1800's when they actually did call it the Orient.
I'm obsessed with reading right now. I've always loved reading, but right now it's like I can't get enough of books. I probably have 10 books checked out right now and I've actually already read 10 books this month. I'll be doing a post about that at the end of January.
Sean has staff duty all day/night so I'm making him pulled pork sandwhiches with hot corn casserole. For myself I'm making bacon wrapped jalapenos and currently I'm enjoying a fabulous Raspberry Beer Cocktail that I found on Pinterest. It's all kinds of delicious. I highly recommend it.
I realized today, while searching around on YouTube for old school rap videos from my youth, that I know all the lyrics to this song:
Do you ever have those days when you look in the fridge and absolutley nothing looks good? I'm having one of those days today.
It's been that kind of day though. I tried tanning and it decided to storm. I tried to hang pictures and my first attempt it was obvious I was way off center. Yeah...last time I try to eyeball it first. After hanging said pictures I came to the conclusion our apartment has to be the cheapest made apartment EVER. I mean, I've lived in cheap apartments, but this one takes the cake. For one, I guess Italian landlords like to use very and I mean very cheap paint. That stuff flakes off like you wouldn't believe! A few hits from my trusty hammer and nail and it was like a snowstorm. It doesn't look bad if you just don't look behind the picture on the wall. It's going to look like crap when we move out of there though.
My agenda for the rest of the day? Run at the gym, stop by and get a few must-have things from the commissary, maybe go downstairs and sift through my Christmas things. Nothing puts me in a good mood like looking at my Christmas decorations/ornaments. Oh and a note about our downstairs storage area? It's damp. As in so damp that a few wooden tables we put down there and my suitcases were sporting mold. Uh...ew! Thank god almost everything else is in Rubbermaid storage containers and spared that.
I wish I could tell my February self to under no circumstances take this apartment. Ah well...all part of the experience I suppose.
