Today's question is for all you domestic types out there. Who cleans your house? You? A cleaning service? A Roomba?
Sean and I had our home deep cleaned by a cleaning service since it was never deep cleaned before we moved in. We are tossing around the idea of having the cleaning service come once a month for a more thorough cleaning than we usually do. Does anyone else do this? Or do you prefer to do it yourself?
So, after we got back from Italy, with the baby and the dog that sheds like a woman after giving birth (yeah...you're going to lose A LOT of hair!), I didn't know what to do. I don't have time to clean, especially now that we have hardwood floors and everything shows. We toyed with the idea of having someone come clean once a month (I love the deep clean that they do), but after we did the cost comparison, we went for a Roomba. I'm SOOOO happy with it. I'm shocked by how much it picks up and how little I have to do, which is extremely handy when I don't have much time for myself anymore, let alone cleaning. Anyway, that's what my money is on. I'd maybe like to have a cleaning company come in once a year to just give the house a nice, good clean, but for now that Roomba does a pretty swell job.
ReplyDeletewe bought our own deep cleaner and it has come in handy so many times. with the dog, and her accidents and such. at 3:00am one morning i was out there scrubbing the carpets.
ReplyDeleteit was worth the investment for us.

Since I stay home with the girls I clean. I deep clean every room, every week. I have a set schedule and do certain rooms on certain days of the week. My parents have always had maids come and clean because they both work and just don't have time. I say if you can afford it, go for it! It would definitely take a ton of stress off you. Especially once baby is here.

ReplyDeleteParticularly now since I am not working, I clean the house. I honestly don't know what the going rate is for a cleaning service, so I have no idea if I could say it is affordable or not, but I would have some seriously guilt staying home jobless and kidless and not cleaning the place myself.
ReplyDeletePlus more than anything I am INSANE about how things are done around the house. I would probably just follow the person around tweaking their work.
We had a cleaning lady come once a month for the deep cleaning, then I keep up with dusting, vacuuming and the light cleaning. It's so worth it!
ReplyDeleteI clean my house and it's hard! It's so much to keep up with.
ReplyDeleteWe clean it ourselves. And by that I mean we don't really clean it. Ha! We each have chores we've kind of adopted (he does vacuuming, I do the dishes), but we tend to avoid general cleaning unless it really has to be done.

ReplyDeleteThere are many pros and cons in hiring professional cleaners. But if you guys are too busy or are too tired to clean the house yourselves, or if your cleaning skills aren't up to par for the situation, then hiring cleaning services might be the trick for you. Some cleaners offer specializiation in cleaning certain rooms, so it's a good bet to read on their services if you do get one.
