My favorite time of year is upon us! I love, love, love Thanksgiving and Christmas and the time in between the two is just so much fun for me.
This year, for the first time in six years, Sean and I are not making the entire Thanksgiving meal. I feel almost like I have nothing to do, because normally at this time I would have made several to-buy lists, already bought my turkey and other Thanksgiving groceries and would have already started prepping several of my dishes. This year I'm just bringing one dessert and one appetizer to each of my grandparents' homes. So a total of three things to make is a vast difference for me.
This year I'm making:
A cheese and meat plate
Cranberry and apple crumble via Skinny Taste. For the record, I taste tested this already and it's really delish. The only thing I'd change is to cut down the honey that's called for in the recipe. It made it a bit runny.
Oreo Bark- it's two ingredients and looks super easy. I'm going to try it out at Thanksgiving and if it's a hit, I'll be adding it to my holiday treats that I'm giving out.
I actually tested these tasty chocolate and cream cheese cupcakes as a possible dessert, but although they were tasty, they didn't have as much of a cream cheese taste as I would like, so I nixed them from my possible Thanksgiving dessert list.
What are you making? An entire Thanksgiving meal? Side dishes? Or dessert?
I'm making the whole meal I've only been doing it since 2010 (though to 'toot' my horn I do it all on my own with a baby/ now toddler lol) . It's only my Husband, myself, child, and my parents no one else could make it so I'm not too stressed about it. I'm trying out a handful of new recipes I found some amazing stuff on Martha Stewart's site. The lady herself is a little off to me personally BUT she is a genius haha!
ReplyDeleteWe are going over to a friend's house for thanksgiving so I'm just making an apple crumble type dessert and then a mac and cheese dish for a side. My husband is from the south so mac and cheese is a must.
ReplyDeleteWe get to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year, so I am just bringing dessert. I decided to make pumpkin cheesecake for the 2nd year in a row :)
ReplyDeleteI am making a chicken florentine casserole to bring as a dish to my family's Thanksgiving. (Although my husband laughed at me and said that chicken florentine is NOT a thanksgiving dish.. whatever.) For an appetizer I am bringing buffalo chicken dip. Yum! I have to send a delicious peanut butter pie to my husband's work with him on Wednesday. They are having a Thanksgiving feast :)
ReplyDeleteFirst time in YEARS that i'm not making a full meal and I'm kinda sad about it, to be honest. I'm taking green bean casserole over to a friend's house. My husband and I just decided that we'll have Thanksgiving in January when he comes home, so I'll go all out then :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the whole shebang myself. Even with 2 desserts.
ReplyDeleteToo much food...that's what we are making!
ReplyDeleteMy Thanksgiving speciality is my pecan pie :)
D
We are going to a friend's house here at Malmstrom with all families from Aviano, which I think is so fun and neat! I am taking sweet potato cheesecake squares, hashbrown casserole, fresh cranberry relish and a ham! I am 3 weeks away from my due date and I swear if something crazy happens and I go into labor tomorrow, I am making a friend bring me a plate of food after delivery! I can not wait to eat!
ReplyDeleteI'm making us drive to Grandma and Grandpa's! We are at my in-laws. She always makes way too much food, so John told me not to bother. I fell like a lazy schlub, but, really, there is too much food here, already! I did help make the mashed potatoes, and the dressing. But bring something? MIL would never hear of it!
ReplyDeleteAll those sound like great choices!! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
