Well, the time has come for the next chapter of our Army life.
We have known for a couple of weeks where we are going to be finishing out Sean's medboard process, but I didn't want to share it on here, until we had orders that gave us exact dates.
So without further ado....we are going to Fort Sill and will be there by the second week in July. We're excited about Sill because it is only 4 hours away from our hometown and I already have one good friend at Sill and know of another blogger there.
The only downside is that we have less than 30 days to do an OCONUS move and that's a bit overwhelming. And I hate leaving the friends I've made here. Not to mention all the delish wine, cheese and pasta I'll be leaving behind.
If you're at Sill, don't hesitate to let me know, I'd love opinions, advice and anything else you care to share about it!
Congrats on orders. You can totally do an OCONUS move in less than 30 days. It's not easy, but it can be done. We did it once with 3 weeks notice and once with 4. This last time we had 3 weeks and James Bond had an extension done because it's hard! We got 6 weeks instead. When we did a CONUS move we had 3 freaking months to PCS. Way to go Army. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move. I will be sad when we leave Germany because of all the good wine and breads we'll leave behind. I'll miss the scenery and the chance to travel, but mostly the wine and breads. :)
Lawton/Ft. Sill is my hometown! My parents are still there, and I have several friends still there as well. Please let me know if there's anything I can for you! chelseamikal@sbcglobal.net. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and we moved from Okinawa, Japan to the middle of nowhere Germany in two weeks. It was a wretched two weeks, but we survived! What an exciting/scary new time for you two! :)
ReplyDeleteHeadache indeed for that short of time to move back to the states ha.
ReplyDeleteYES!! Can you see me doing flips at my computer?! By the way, I have lots of wine left from our time in Italy. Two months after we went to Texas to pick it up, I found out about Juliana : ) So there's lots left to share!
ReplyDeleteI am from Lawton too! We move the 1 of July but I will be back after the 4th and again for an entire week the end of July. I am sure I will be around a lot more than that since it is my hometown :)
ReplyDeleteWe moved here from Okinawa in 2 weeks. We did circuitous travel on the way back as well :)
Best of luck to you! I hope the whole process goes as smoothly as possible :)
ReplyDeleteMy middle son's last posting was Sill. I liked it there. Hope it's a happy place for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! How exciting for you to finally have answers and know where you are going!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finally being able to nail down down the official move date. I can only imagine how bittersweet it will be to leave Italy, but I'm sure you'll love being able to easily go home. I can't wait to hear all about the big move!
