1. Driving in Italy makes me angry. Inevitably I get honked at for things Italian drivers do everyday. I do not understand this.
2. I am not a phone talker, at all. I have tried explaining to my parents why I'd rather text than call people, because I guess their generation doesn't get that. I get so nervous on the phone and feel like I babble/talk quickly/make no sense.
3. Boomer (my Min-Pin) has some sort of stomach sickness a couple of nights ago. It ended up with me getting very little sleep that night and a vet visit in the morning. I realized that's just a small taste of what I can expect when I have children. Scary....
4. Speaking of children, when I see women on TV, in blogs, on Facebook that actively try to gain as little weight as possible during their pregnancy and then brag about it, I judge you. I don't mean that I think women should gain massive amounts of weight during pregnancy, so that it's unhealthy for them or the baby. But I also don't think you should limit yourself to ridiculous amounts of food or exercise in an unhealthy way just to keep from gaining weight. Frankly, I think it's selfish. It's not about you, it's about the baby you are growing in your body. If you can't realize that, then I think you have deep seated issues.
I hateeee talking on the phone oh and the drivers in DC are awful!
ReplyDeleteTotally with you on #4. I'm sorry, you're growing a PERSON. You're *designed* to gain weight. A friend of mine had her doctor tell her that there was no reason she should gain more than 20 pounds during her pregnancy, and anything else is laziness. She was already of the same mind, so she didn't balk the same way I did. But really? Irrespective of family genetics, body style, or just lifestyle? There was no real medical reason. Just that other weight is "unnecessary" and therefore should be avoided. He even had her on a diet.
ReplyDeleteI think that we would be friends in real life - I know that sounds weird but you say things that I would say/have said all the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that your little fur baby is not feeling well! I think the same thing when my dogs are sick that it will be nothing compared to freaking out over a child.
100% agree on the pregnancy weight gain thing. I think it's gross when girls are excited about how little weight they've gained. Oh you want your baby to be undernurished? Gross.
We should set up a Europe bloggy meet up! I think we would totally get along! I cannot stand when women complain in general about pregnancy! You are growing a baby human! You should relish in every moment!! Where are you in Italy?? I am in southern Germany- in Ansbach!!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I totally agree with you on #4!! I An excessive amount of weight is obviously not good, but starving yourself isn't going to help you and it's really not going to help the baby! I got so frustrated when my midwife told me I had gained too much weight between 2 of my appointments. It's not like I gained 20 pounds in a month or something!! It was 10. Gimme a freaking break.
ReplyDeleteUm, Imma call BS on numero dos. You're a perfectly adequate phone talker.
ReplyDeleteI agree with number four and clearly try to set a very realistic weight gain example. Lol I mean, you can diet ANY OL TIME. Why not take a break from all that while pregnant (within reason obvs)? I know I do! Gotta hit it hard enough post-baby, so I enjoy food while pregnant! Haha
ReplyDeleteI had a midwife appointment today and she told me that last week's "jump" in weight must have been a fluke - today's weight was 4 lbs. lighter. I was glad, but then, I don't care how much weight I've gained. Breastfeeding Jericho helped me lose all of that baby weight and then some, so I'm not worried this time around. Taco Bueno will not be sacrificed!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much hate talking on the phone too.
ReplyDeleteWith baby #3 my doctor told me I was only suppose to gain 15lbs. I told her I gained 35 and 40 with my others and that is what I would gain this time. I was right. I think our bodies are meant to gain what we gain for the most part. I hate to see people worrying too much about it too.
Totally agree with the phone and the lack of weight gain. I see it a lot lately and I seriously judge every single one of them. That is so freakin' selfish it makes my blood boil. Ok, I'm going to stop now because I'm already getting mad thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteThe phone thing is generational. I don't like typing on my phone. I don't like being in a conversation with someone, and having them playing on their phone, talking to someone else. Happens all the time, and it's rude. I'd rather someone excuse themselves to take an important phone call, although I won't interrupt a conversation (I hit ignore on the cell) unless it's one of my kids and it could be an emergency. But I'm weird that way.
ReplyDeletethe weight thing is cyclical. When I was having kids, starting almost 30 years ago, weight gain was relaxed. "Don't gain too much per month, but don't starve yourself. The baby needs the food." My mom and grandmother were watched very strictly. The pendulum has swung back to that, that's all. I say, gain a middle amount of weight. Drive 'em ALL crazy.
Totally agree with you on the weight. I don't get these people who gain like 60 pounds with one baby!
ReplyDeleteI think that there's a happy medium on weight gain when you're pregnant. While I hope I don't gain an unreasonable amount when my time comes, I also totally judge those girl who restrict their calories and brag about how little the've gained. Their priorities are just so skewed.
