So Very Angry

I'm so angry at the military today that I can't even do my normal MilSpouse Friday Fill-In.

As most of you know, Sean hurt his back while he was deployed and came back early from this deployment. So..the only stuff that got brought back to Italy was the stuff he was carrying with him. We got one box of stuff after the guys redeployed that had a few pieces of his equipment, a few books and about 10 movies. The guys assured him that they packed up the rest of his stuff and it would be coming back with the main shipment of stuff.

Fast forward to today and he tells me nothing else made it back. NOTHING. That includes equipment, tons of DVDs (including a bunch he borrowed from me) a whole folder of PSP games, everything that people sent him in care packages and pictures I sent him of me and Boomer. It's all gone. GONE. Nobody seems to know where it is. I call B.S. on that. You can't tell me they just decided to leave his stuff there for the next unit, knowing he wasn't coming back. Besides...what happened to the guys saying they'd packed up his stuff. Where in the heck is it?!

I'm just so angry right now that I'm actually crying. I know it's just stuff, but we're lower enlisted living on one salary. We can't replace the personal stuff. It would probably be at least $300 plus to replace it.

I'm just done with today.

  1. Ught! I can't even imagine! I would be so upset too. My husband is deployed right now and so many things have been stolen from him. I often question where the "brotherhood" has gone.

  4. I am pissed for you! I hope it turns up somehow (aka it was magically found in someone's room). Be patient...redeployment shipments can be chaotic.

On the other hand, it is so unbearably sad that soldiers steal from each other. I'll never forget how broke we were and trying to PCS but we still had to pay for issued items that had been stolen during the deployment.

Hang in there. Sorry this happened :(

  6. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. It's just rotten that he didn't have a battle buddy that would step up and take care of sending it to him!

  7. I would cry too and probably want to beat someone. My Husband's deployed right now and he has to put his stuff in his bag and lock it because last time people tried to take off with his dvd's. Even his roommate before we got married took off with half his crap.

I know how it feels and I agree about where's the 'brotherhood' now. I hope it magically turns up later...

  8. This is no bueno :( I'd be furious too. It's horrible how things get lost in the shuffle. I hope that it all turns up eventually, although they should have made sure it all got back to you guys in the first place. Sorry chickadee.

  11. At first I questioned why my husband labeled literally EVERYTHING (clothes, DVDs, flashlights, tools, etc.) with his name in permanent marker.

Now I know. I agree--so sad that "the brotherhood" isn't trustworthy at all.

  12. Im so sorry! That really does just suck. People, especially military members, should have more respect and common decency than that. =(

  13. Im sorry! We went through that a couple of times. It makes me so sick to know these guys deploy together, work together, everything and yet they can not respect each other. We've had his fress Blues stolen 3 times in the Navy. 2 camcorders, I've lost count of dvd's, psps, and cd's. Gym shorts and shoes. His underwear, under shorts, usb drives, laptop, and a digital camera. So incredibly horrible.

  14. it is really sad what fellow Soldiers do to each other and how the COC does nothing. My husband was hurt in Iraq in 2008 and medevaced out to BAMC nothing of his made it back...then they tried to make him accountable for the lost gear. a nightmare. so sorry for your headache. tell th em you are going to file a claim w/your renters insurance etc and push it through COC..

  15. That totally sucks! My husband was moved to another country during this deployment and all of his stuff went missing.

We're talking clothes, gear, the sheets off his bed. I found out after three months that he was sleeping without blankets and had to order some online to send him. They never found his stuff and in fact CHARGED US for the missing gear (over $1000). Thank God he fought that and won, but talk about getting pissed.

Hey, we lost your stuff. You owe us $1500.

    (my brain explodes)

  17. That really sucks and unfortunately it happens a lot. It's possible that either it went missing from his company, it got mislabeled, shipped and MOA or that it got shipped but the bastards that work the baghram PO stole it..trust me this happens.

Do you have renter's insurance through usaa? They ought to be able to help you out.

Good luck and again Imam so sorry to hear that this happened to you all. :(
