Another Christmas blog! I'm sorry, but I just can't help myself.
I was thinking the other day about the wonderful Christmases I had as a child and then I remembered the Christmas present I asked for year after year and never got.
This:
The life-sized Barbie Corvette! I always wanted one and never got one. I guess I made up for it a little when I was 16 and actually bought my own Corvette, but still I always remember wanting that car so much when I was little.
Did you ever have a gift like that?
I always asked for a LITE-BRITE, and a Chia Pet. I never got either of them. :(
ReplyDeletetoo bad about the lite brite. I loved mine and think I will buy one for B when he's old enough. I wanted the Barbie jeep. Same idea as the corvette of course.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I am still bitter about this. Seriously, time to grow up, D, haha!
ReplyDeleteI always begged for a dollhouse. Like, a real dollhouse. I had a Barbie Malibu Mansion or whatever, but all I wanted was a pretty little dollhouse (I know, deprived, right?). I was always "too little" and then all of a sudden I was "too old".
Damnit, I STILL want a doll house, haha!
This is going to sounds really weird to all you non-farming folks, but I wanted a toy sized piece of farm equipment- a manure spreader of all things! I would cry to my dad, "I want a poop spreader!" And then like on my 18th birthday, I got it, lol.
ReplyDeleteI wanted a GameBoy when I was 8ish. My mom made me research which one I wanted and took me to the store to look at my options. Once I saw the price of it and the price of the games, I decided I didn't want it. I was a very money-minded child and around that point I started feeling guilty for wanting anything too expensive. I have no idea if that was my mom's intention when she made me do that, but she definitely took the "impulse" out of wanting things.
ReplyDeleteTo this day, I have no clue what I actually got that Christmas. And I'm still ridiculously frugal.
I wanted an easy bake oven but my parents would never get one for me!
ReplyDeleteI actually got one of those Barbie cars but it wasn't that big Corvette. Man I loved that thing.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a real pony but never got one. :(
wait?!?! did I read this right?!? you bought yourself a corvette at 16?!?!? a real corvette?!?!
ReplyDeleteI wanted a Barbie Hot Wheels so freaking bad and never got it!
ReplyDeleteI used to always want a powerwheel. I would a have loved the Barbie ones, but I would have been fine with any type. And an easy bake oven. Although I'm sure if I had one I would have cooked non-stop on it and my parents just never would have bought me refills.
