Question of the Day

Before I get to the question, I just want to say thank you to all veterans out there past and present. I really appreciate your service!

So now to the question, How much is too much information on Facebook, Twitter or your blog?

I ask, because there's been a few things that have come up lately and it made me wonder what some people are thinking when they put it all out there.

Ex 1: Several Facebook friends of mine and Sean, have called to attention the fact their spouse was having an affair and who they were having it with.

Ex 2: Blogs (although I know a blog is a bit more personal) putting out details like the status of the blogger's monthly cycle (no it was not a health/fertility blog) or people blogging detailed pictures/descriptions of their surgeries.

Does too much information turn you off? What is too much information to you? If you encounter blogs or Facebook friends who blog about things like the above, what do you do? Simply ignore or do you say anything?

  1. Holy Moley I didn't know people did that! You always hear about it but I've never seen it! I'm use to people airing their business but not to that extent! WOW! I am speechless! I guess I would just ignore it! If that's how they roll... then go for it...it's not for me though!!!

  2. Anything involving bodily functions freaks me the eff out. I don't want to know what color your poop or your snot is. Gross!

I also don't want to see self portraits where you hold the camera above your head so I can see all of your cash & prizes in the picture. Boobs are nice, but I can see mine anytime I want.

  3. There was a girl who I went to college with who was posting on facebook while in labor! She's make comments such as "I'm at 5cm!!".

    Umm...too much information!

  4. I ponder this same question almost DAILY! There is a girl on my FB friends list that happens to be an Army wife. Her and her friends get together to watch a certain TV show every week, get drunk, and take webcam pictures of themselves. These pictures are PUBLIC because the girl that posted them is not my friend and just tagged all of the other ladies in the pictures. Well the pix are of these girls pulling their pants down to show their thong clad butts to the camera or pulling their shirts up to show their bras! Two of the five girls are married to military men [one army, one marine] and one of the other girls is engaged [to a sailor]. First, why in the world would you take pix like that to begin with?!? Second, I am sure this looks bad on their husband's careers. Third, in the future when they plan on working a legitimate job other than at Hooters, what happens when a prosective employer sees those pictures? I swear people just do not use their brains anymore!!

  5. I don't think facebook should be a place to talk about dirty laundry at all....ever!

  6. I don't get this too much but there is one facebook friend of mine who is an ex girlfriend of my uncle. Since we're close in age (uncle is only 7 years older than me) we hung out when they were dating and so I got to know her pretty well. Well...she was normal(ish) then, but shes pretty crazy now. Like, posting about how her baby's daddy won't pay child support...or when she finally got him to posting the check stub she got from him. WEIRD right? But then again I'm glad I know all that I know about that creep because my friend almost ended up dating him...until she found out about the baby.
So while I hate that kind of stuff, sometimes it comes in handy!

  7. For me it depends on the person. If I know them super well and am comfortable with them it doesn't bug me at all.

  9. Ew. I talk about things that are way too TMI, but only with my close friends. No one else needs to know about it! :)

  10. I often wonder this also, it seems people sometimes think the internet will not clash with their "real" life per say.

  11. Honestly the crap that annoys me the most is when someone updates their status every 30 mins about what their kid is doing. "X is sleeping" "Now X is awake and I have to go shower" "Now I am done showering and it's time to go grocery shopping". I don't need to know every minute of your day.
