A few weeks ago MSN or Yahoo ( I can't remember which) had a story on their page about unusual perfumes, naturally I had to click it and check it out. Several of the perfumes listed were from Demeter.
Now, I've bought Demeter before, once when I was in college I bought their Fresh-Cut Grass scent, to spray around my dorm room. Anywho, I didn't really think that particular scent smelled all that much like grass, but I have smelled other products of theirs that did smell remarkably like what they were modeled after.
On the list of unsual perfumes were two very odd choices: Funeral Home and Earthworm. I do realize funeral home has a distinct smell, but earthworm? And why would you want to smell like either one of those things?
Since that article I've been browsing around the Demeter website and have found a lot of scents that I'm curious about smelling.
Such as:
Christmas in New York
Bonfire
Dirt
Laundromat
Thunderstorm
Salt Air
Tomato
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
Anyone ever buy Demeter scents? If so, do you think they smell like what they are supposed to smell like?
I've never heard of this brand but now I'm curious! And what weird smells!
ReplyDeleteI bought the fresh cut grass when I was younger but that was it! I can honestly say the 2 featured would NOT be on my list of scents I want to smell! Christmas in New York sounds interesting though!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the list that you want to smell. I can definitely say I would love to smell most of those, too.
ReplyDeleteHowever, funeral home?! And earthworm? Trust me, I have smelled earth worms. My college campus would be covered in them after spring rains and they smell horrid!
strange-ness. I've not purchased their products, but I've visited enough funeral homes to know that, even if bottled, I would not like to keep that smell around. Too morbid for me.
ReplyDeletePs. I'm new to your blog. Its nice to "meet"/read you. :) Find me here, http://www.stylishfoodie.blogspot.com
um... I bet Christmas in NY is a cross between juniper and trash. Hah. I love NYC but it does not smell good.
ReplyDeleteI <3 Demeter. Bonfire is one of my favorites. I haven't smelled 'Funeral Home', but I'd be interested too; it probably smells like lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I saw that article and thought it was crazy weird. Who wants to smell like any of that stuff?
ReplyDeleteCrazy!! I'm finally back in the blogging world and will start commenting again instead of just lurking! :) (Used-to-be-Mrs-Cup)
ReplyDeleteHi - I was just stopping by your blog and thought I'd comment on this topic. I bought Demeter a few times in college (I worked in a store that sold it) - a lot of the scents do smell like what they say it does...but I didn't really care for it as a perfume because the smell doesn't last very long (at least it didn't on me - maybe that's just my body chemistry)
ReplyDeleteAnd wow...funeral home. that's a new one. Earth worm....possibly even stranger :)

I've never heard of Demeter before, but now I'm extremely interested in smelling their scents for myself, especially the thunderstorm one :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder, does Xmas in NY have specific smell?
ReplyDeletehow is Christmas in NY supposed to smell? I'd like to check out that one.
Funeral Home? I wonder if the actual funeral homes are buying that.
ReplyDeletei love the smell of gasoline but I do not think I would want to wear it. they look interesting
