Decorating Help

OK...I need help with decorating.

This is the tile on my bathroom wall:

This is the tile on the bathroom floor:

What's a coordinating color I could use for bathmat, towels, etc? I was thinking perhaps a dark gold or a brown, but I don't like things being too matchy. As far as a different color that would compliment it, I'm really not sure.

Any suggestions?

  1. I would do the brown over the gold (as much as I love gold) because I think it might just blend in. But, if you wanted a lighted color, I think certain greens might look ok. Here's a link to a color that might work... but it's hard to say without actually seeing both your tile and the green in person!

  2. I'm kind of afraid to be the first commenter, lol.

I don't have much talent in the way of decorating, but the colors that strike me as looking good with that would be like a rusty red, or maybe a great blue? It makes me think of old missions in California, or something like that.

    Just my two cents. :)

  4. I like the wall tile. You cannot go wrong with rusty red, shades of rich green, orange but I would probably go with something totally unexpected like 2 shades of muted blue with touch of light purple.

Check this link for matching colors

  7. dark red, not like burgundy or maroon though. Just a darker red, it would make it very "tuscan". lol

  8. I would go brown with splashes of red, or teal! That would be pretty!

  9. I like to throw random bright colors into things, so I say red. But, a good black additive would be classy!

  10. I would throw some color in there, someting like a teal. There is a lot of brown in there already, but you could also add a chocolate brown with white

  11. I love decorating baths! So easy to change and a small space that you can go out of the ordinary.

This also gave me an excuse to go browse, that's how I have to do it. I'll look around and either a bath mat, picture or vase or something will catch my eye and I go from there.

I picture those colors with maybe blues and greens.

  12. OK, so I really did use this as a reason to browse... I saw this, they are kind of bold but I like the colors in the lighter one, totally not what I had said I pictured so I'm changing my mind!

  13. Since it's a neutral color, I'd say you could do many earthy tones. I always love white waffle shower curtains and accenting with colors elsewhere. I think a medium brown (something on the side of grey) could be nice. White with green or brown accents would be very crisp and fresh. I wouldn't do gold based on the pictures I'm seeing but brown would be good, I think.

  14. I think a deep, royal blue would look nice.

  15. I wouldn't add anymore gold or brown, you'll overwhelm your room. I'd add cream to brighten it, then add a contrasting color (like sage green or blue) to add some visual interest.
I personally love blue in the bathroom and would suggest a color like this: http://www.target.com/Waverly-Home-6-pc-Towel-Set/dp/B001J7ISMU/ref=sc_qi_collection_item_4?ie=UTF8&altString=Waverly%20Home%206-pc.%20Towel%20Set%20-%20Basin%20Blue

Good luck! Can't wait to see what you decide.

  16. I would have to see a dark, earthy red. Really, you could go with anything, but staying in your earth tones would bring the best statement!

  17. My mother, who has fab taste, has tiles of a similar color. Hers may be a little more khaki/neutral but she has gorgeous darker red towels. looks awesome.

  18. I think I would use creams and blues, but I love the red idea, too!

  19. I would go more something like olive green or a royal/Navy blue!

  20. A good green or blue. not bright and crazy but deep and rich. Going with gold or brown would be really boring in my opinion. You want something that pops. If you don't want it to be too bold, a deep red would be a good middle ground.

  21. If you wanted to go neutral, I would go with a deep chocolate brown but otherwise I'd say a blue would be pretty. I think red would be too much with the tiles since they have an orangey color. I suppose green would look good too, I'm just biased because I'm not a green fan haha.

  22. How about a dark teal. Something like this:

  23. I would go with a deep blue or jeweled green tone.

  24. I think the Teal suggestion is fantastic or a celery green. Have fun with it, don't be afraid to go across the color wheel! Good luck!

  25. I would say my suggestion would be a brown of some sort... even an off white would look cute...

but for some FUN color... a blue or a green would look great as well!

  26. I'm a big fan of turquoise accents, or even a punchy green, and then you could keep the bathroom linens mostly white.

  27. Thanks so much for your help! I just used Picnik and I LOVE it! I touched up the pictures I just posted and now i'm considering posting the new photos. I'll also try changing the lighting feature on my camera. It's all about trial and error!

  28. Here is another vote for doing greens, creams or ivory, and or some blue! That tile is absolutely beautiful; I love the color! Love!
