Earlier last year I mentioned my interest in having some Pin-Up style pictures done for Sean.
Fast forward to this year and I'm still thinking about it. We are supposed to be spending R&R in Oklahoma and so I'm thinking of having some pictures done then. I've kind of changed my mind about the pin-up pictures though. I'm one of those people who has to really love the work of someone to want them to do it for me. So far, I haven't seen any pin-up photographers in Oklahoma or Texas (in reasonable driving range) whose work I just 100% love. So..I've decided for now to do more boudoir style photos with perhaps a modern pin-up vibe. After much searching I think I've found someone that I want to do my pictures.
Adora Lee
You should check out her blog or website to see some of the samples.
I'm so excited! I really hope that I am able to work it out so that she is the one who will be taking my pictures and I hope they turn out well. I'm still not in the shape I want to be and I wish I were a little bit tanner, but in a few months both of those issues may be better.
Have any of you ever had boudoir or pin-up pictures taken? If so, how was the experience?
*Don't forget to get your questions in on the post below! I'll be answering them on Friday*
My wedding photographers hosted a give-away back in Oct. 2008 in which they gave away 3 free budoir sessions. They even provided a girl to do your makeup. I won one of them (this was before I hired them as our wedding photographers). Scott had already been deployed for 4-5 months and I was planning on surprising him with it... but in the end I had to tell him. They did a fantastic job. I'm incredibly modest, so this was definitely out of my comfort zone and it didn't help that the photographers are a husband/wife team and both were present. But, they were so professional that it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually had some fun. Scott absolutely loved them. But, I was so incredibly sore afterward because they made me hold unnatural poses. They didn't look unnatural in the photos, but they were definitely not poses I would do in every day life.
ReplyDeleteI hope it all works out. I know that I am really glad I had the opportunity to do that for Scott.
I think thats awesome!! Ive always wanted to do something like that!! i bet they turn out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWell her photos are absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think doing something like that would be so much fun!!
I had boudoir photos taken recently. I still don't have them back (boo!) but it was really fun and I enjoyed the shoot even though I was crazy nervous beforehand. My photographer even met me at my own home which helped me feel more comfortable. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteI've never had them done but I love the idea of a pin up photo shoot and really done in a vintage style if that makes sense. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYep. Did them. Yep, loved them! She provided someone to do my makeup so that helped a TON. I'm not good with make-up at all, and she made me look pretty va va voom, know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteMy one tip as both a subject and photographer would be to get fake eye-lashes and remember to smile!
ohh, you should do it! That photographer looks great - her work seems very classy :)
ReplyDeleteI did mine a few months ago and I LOOOOOVE them. I"m giving them to my fiance the night before our wedding. Send me an email and I can show you a few of them if you're interested! (jeslynn02 -at- gmail -dot- com) I used his uniform for a few of them :)
ReplyDeleteoh, Adora Lee is fantastic! I checked her web site - really, really nice! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, her photos are AMAZING! Now I'm slightly jealous :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do it but haven't... I've seen some done that just don't look quite special enough, but looked at her pictures and they look amazing! You are going to have so much fun. I love the whole pin up vibe you are considering too.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to do the pin-up style as well, but then decided to do something that actually represented "me"... and I did a western themed boudoir! It was absolutely amazing. I loved the pictures. I had just had a baby so I do not love my body in them... but as long as the stomach was not showing the flab they were wonderful haha. I put them on a thumb drive so he could put them all on his ipod and I made a little pocket size flip book out of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually tentatively scheduling a session this month with a photographer my friend knows. She's going to do my hair and makeup.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do some lingerie type photos and some wearing a couple thing P will appreciate (me in his unit's t-shirt and me wearing his favorite sweatpants). I'm super nervous, because I'm shy and not a fan of y'know taking my clothes off in front of people I don't know.
I haven't told P yet. I think it's going to be a surprise for him.
I had boudoir pictures taken in DC and it was fantastic and fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't done it, but am considering doing it while the hubs is deployed. I'm also hoping to pregnant, so it'll be a dual purpose shoot. I want to do it like that since he will miss most of the pregnancy
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everyone, her stuff looks amazing! Go for it! You're going to look great. =]
ReplyDeleteGirl you look fantastic and they're going to be amazing! I have a friend who is a photog and I'm sure at some point she'll give me a session (and an awesome photoshop diet :P).
ReplyDeleteI haven't done that type of photo shoot, but I've researched photographers. If LT signs another contract when his current one is up, then I will definitely be doing them to send with him on future deployments. If he gets out, I'm not sure... As long as I am there in person, no need for fancy pics. :-p
