I read a ton of books too :) Right now I am reading book #3 in the Outlander series by Diana Diana Gabaldon. I am also reading Centennial by James Mitchner.
I just finished "The Other Queen" Its by the same person who wrote The Other Bolyn Girll and is really good. Another really good one I recently finished is "The Nazi Officers Wife" Its more of a memior though. I love http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com and use it a lot when I want to pick up a new book
Maybe these will show my age or my nerdiness, or both. When we lived in Germany about 10 years ago I started taking my (then) young girls to the library as a way for a scared Army wife to venture out of the house. It instilled a love of books in all of us. Some that I have read recently are: Revolutionary Road (Richard Yates), Lost Moon - about the Apollo 13 voyage (James Lovell), Cold Mountain (Charles Frazier), John Adams (David McCullough). I am currently finishing Band of Brothers (Stephen Ambrose) and getting ready to start Wicked. Good luck and let us know what books you choose! I am always looking for new books to dive into...
On a long layover in the airport I picked up Remember Me ? by Sophie Kinsella. OMG. I love this book. I am sure you will read it very fast but it is SO CUTE.
I have a Good Reads account and it helps me keep track of all the books I want to read and have read. It is on my blog too. I recently finished The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf. I love Margaret Atwood books, and the historical mystery series by Ariana Franklin.
I always look up the latest books on the New York Times best seller list to help me pick out my next read too.
Hi! One, that I loved and keep recomending to friends is called Firefly Lane. Its really great! I have a list of books I have recently read on my blog as well! Happy Reading!
Belong to Me AND Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. Best fiction books ever written :)
I've heard good things about The Hunger Games series, but haven't read it yet. I just ordered myself the first book. Not usually what I like, but all the buzz makes me interested so we'll see!
I just ordered nannies back and Dear John. The book I just finished up is a non fiction called A Journal for Jordan (don't recommend while on deployment) I am a big believer on corny books. I love a series called the second assistant, it is followed by the first assistant. I'm a big reader. I've also tried knitting when the book doesn't work.
Right now I am having to read a lot of Young Adult fiction because I am in the Masters program for Library Science and School Media.. All the books I have read by Ellen Hopkins are good. The Vampire Academy books are good too..oh and anything by Sarah Dessen are good too.. for adult reading I love Susan Mallery, Kristen Hannah, and Nicholas Sparks... and for christian fiction.. you can't beat Karen Kingsbury.. Her books are amazing!!!
I loved The Post-American World and The Omnivore's Dilemma. If you read the Omnivore's Dilemma, I insist that you google "the omnivore's delusion" which is an essay that counters some points made in the book. If you're going to see one side, you should see the other too! :) I also really liked The History of Love. It was kinda weird, but the end was beautiful.
Also, because I'm a big anthro nerd, you MUST check out Dead Men Do Tell Tales by William Maples. He was the head of the lab that I helped out at in undergrad and the book is AMAZING.
I saw someone else recommend the book Firefly Lane. I read that too and I loooved it. Also, right now I am reading Three Cups of Tea, but I am not very far into it.
*They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky *Uglies *Archangel by Robert Harris *Home by Julie Andrews *The Third Terrorist by Jayna Davis (being an Okie, you might find this interesting) *If God is Good *The Jesus You Can't Ignore *The Last Thing I Remember
Some of those are young adult fiction, some are non-fiction and I listed the authors for ones that may have multiple books of a similar title or be otherwise hard to find.
Let us know what you read as you go! I love book recommendations!
I'll have to look through these suggestions. I've read next to nothing recently. I keep going after trashy stephen king books but even those haven't kept my attention.
I just got done reading "Sam's Letters to Jennifer" and Tori's Spelling's 2nd book Mommywood. Her first book was HILARIOUS if you haven't read it, it's good as well "sTori Telling"
I love love love'd the Sookie Stakhouse novels by Charline Harris. They are the books that the True Blood series on HBO were based off of. ( http://bestfantasystories.com/complete-listing-of-the-charlaine-harris-sookie-stackhouse-books/ )
I'm still working my way through the Harry Potter series (on book 5 right now) but I find them to be really predictable. I've got "Julie and Julia" in line and the book "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Cadavers" (which was recommended by one of my professors). You should check out the book club "PaperBack Swap". It's free, and I've already gotten several great books from it. Here's the link: www.paperbackswap.com
I'm reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood (a vampire series) and it is AWESOME!!The author is J R Ward. I think there are 6 or more books. A bit more adult than Sookie, but so good!!
I read a ton of books too :) Right now I am reading book #3 in the Outlander series by Diana Diana Gabaldon. I am also reading Centennial by James Mitchner.
