I'll Be Home for Christmas

Well...it's official now. I will be "home" for Christmas. I bought my tickets last night. Talk about expensive! The cheapest I could find was about $940 and with taxes it came out to about $1400. Ridiculous! Good thing I only plan on going home about once a year.

I'm so excited about going home for Christmas. The only thing that would make it better is if Sean were going to, but obviously that's not in the cards. So it will just be me visiting friends and family and eating my weight in all the food I've been missing for the past year. Mazzios...Taco Bueno...Chilis...Starbucks. Then I plan on heading to the stores: Hobby Lobby...Ulta...Hallmark. You get the picture.

Has anyone started Christmas shopping? I like to do a lot of mine online and then ship it to my parents home, so I'm not stuck trying to cart a bunch of gifts home with me. Today I started buying Sean a couple of gifts, but he told me not to get him a lot, as I'll be sending him care packages quite regularly with goodies in them. So I think his main present from me will be a shockproof, dustproof and waterproof camera. Then a few movies to go with his PSP. All I want from him is a new laptop and the Twilight Zone complete collection.

I have a few ideas of what I'm getting other people, but I need to start making my usual list of what to get each person. That helps me out a lot.

What can I say? I'm one of those anal listmaking people.

Oh..and if you are so inclined, I should be posting a link to some photoshop actions on my photo blog (which I haven't used in forever) So look for that soon!

  1. Welcome to the world of insane flight prices! We have been buying one of those tickets once every two months for the past year and a half! There goes our downpayment on a house haha

  2. I think you're also going home in a super popular time, too. But yeah, the tickets are always going to be about $800.

We'll figure something out with meeting up. Maybe in Dallas. How long will you be home?

  5. I can't even imagine how excited you are (after you get over the ticket price shock). I've only been away from home for a little over a month and I cannot wait to see everyone for Christmas! What's even more ridiculous though? I checked out plane tickets and it wasn't much less expensive to fly from OK to SC!!

  8. Wait, hold the phone! Are you telling me there is NO STARBUCKS over there?!?!?! If that is the case I need to change my dream sheet on where I want my first duty station. LOL! I can not live with out the Starbucks!

  9. Our flights were about $900 total this summer for each of us and I thought that was ridiculous. We shopped around a lot for Christmas and booked REALLY early and they were only $520 each! How awesome is that? But if you are only going home once a year and it is only you going, who cares? You deserve a trip home and you will have a great time!! We leave the 17th for Atlanta and won't be back until the 3rd!! I can't wait!

  13. Ugh, I hate how the airlines jack up the prices around the holidays. It's costing us $600 per ticker to fly from Chicago to Phoenix for Thanksgiving!

  15. Can I ask where you got your tickets from? I know when I was stationed overseas I went to the ITT place on base and I was able to fly from Germany to NM for like 450. It was WAAAAAAAAY cheaper than going through Expedia, or anything of the sort.

I've started my shopping but I've only got 2 people done so far. I need to get on that list making and start soon!
