I mentioned about a week ago that I was starting to look for bikinis. I got out the bikini I currently own to tan in and the elastic in in the top has gone kaput...so I desperately am in need of a new swimsuit.
In one of the recent Glamours it gave tips for the right suit for your body. To be honest I didn't like the suit that they recommended for my body type, it looked like something a 60-year-old competitive swimmer would wear.
I started shopping on my favorite websites. Forever 21, Gap, Old Navy, even Victoria Secret. I mean, Victoria Secret is famous for swimsuits right? Surely I can find something there. Maybe it was the realization that the swimsuits are never going to look that good on me as they do on the models, but I couldn't find a darn thing I liked at Victoria Secret.
So far, these have been my two faves:
Both of these are from Old Navy. I think the green is my absolute favorite, but since I'm so pale right now I'm hoping it doesn't wash me out.
*Sigh* The trials of bikini shopping....
Anyone have any other websites that I should look at? I don't mind paying good money for a good swimsuit, but I don't want to pay anything outlandish for something that isn't going to last.
Ugh! It is so hard to shop for bikini's! But I really do love the green, it's one of my favorite colors.
ReplyDeleteMaybe try Target? I always remember seeing a TON of swimsuits there during the summer.
Good luck finding the perfect bikini ;)
I love the second one. You try a place called Venus. I don't know the web address. Just type in Venus Swimwear and I'm sure it'll come up. They are pricey though! I got mine there about 3 years ago and it lasted 2 summers because they are really good suits!
ReplyDeleteI love land's end bathing suits. i dont know what your body shape is but i'm a size 12 and look for things where my boobs arent out all over the place, and they have suits that do that.they have bikinis, too!
ReplyDeleteI love J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteI really like the green suit, I think it's a great color!
ReplyDeleteBummer that you didn't see any you liked at VS, I always get my suits there and they usually last me a few summers!
Good luck!
I like everythingbutwater.com. They're a tad expensive, but they've got some pretty separates.
ReplyDeleteVictoria's Secret is usually my favorite, they tend to be pretty well made. J Crew always has really cute ones, as well!
ReplyDelete^ what dana said. Everything But Water is amazing. I got a bathing suit from them last summer (and I'm not going to lie, it was NOT cheap) but it was worth every stinking penny it cost me. They don't do the standard "small, medium, large" etc. sizes. Their tops are cup sizes and their bottoms are pant sizes, so you can get a bathing suit that actually fits you and looks nice. I LOVE it. Plus you don't have to buy the pieces together, so if you find a top you really like that fits well but don't want to pay for bottoms that you could find anywhere for cheaper, that's just fine!
ReplyDeleteI looove the green one! I think it would look awesome with your blonde hair :)
ReplyDeleteI got one swimsuit from VS, but I usually just browse department stores for them. I've tried Target, but they don't fit right one me.
Im a Target girl for a bathing suit because the selection is so big. I actually like the black one you picked out :)
ReplyDeleteI hate shopping for bathing suits but that is probably because I look so crappy in them! I bought a few from Old Navy for our honeymoon and not only were they cheap but they were pretty well made. I'm sure I will have them until I buy new ones in several years!! Steph is right though, Target does have cute ones and they are cheap so who cares if they fall apart in two seasons! However, if you buy one and you love it, you better buy 2 more before they are discontinued!
ReplyDeleteThe green is rockin'! I didn't realize that Old Navy had such cute suits...I am heading over to check them out. :)
ReplyDeleteI really hate bikini shopping. Target has a bunch of good ones but they don't do APO addresses do they? When I was in Italy I bought a few bikinis in the stores over there. Not very expensive and completely unique from what we find in the US.
ReplyDeleteI've always been a Victoria's Secret swimsuit fan. :)
ReplyDeleteI like green because I think it looks good despite being tan or not!
I'm not sure what they have anymore, but a few years ago I found a couple cute suits on the Newport News website. And they were cheap!
ReplyDeleteFree People and Anthro have cute ones... Anthro's are a lil pricey, but I bet they're good. Still, Target, as everyone else has said, has a ton. And since they're cheaper and probably won't last as long, you can change it up when you get tired of it :)
ReplyDeleteI love that green one! The pattern on the suit is very Missoni-ish. ;)
I like the B&W one you posted. This does remind me I want to buy a new bathing suit. And will probably go with Victoria Secret. And I think someone else mentioned it, but a good site I've gotten bathing suits from before is Venus Swimwear. I like them because they'll have a given pattern and 4 different tops and 4 different bottoms in that pattern, so you can pick the top and bottom in the style you want that matches.
ReplyDeleteI like the green best too.
ReplyDeleteI've always had good luck at Dillard's for swimsuits, but I'm pretty much a one-piece girl now.
Good Luck!
I LOVE the green one! plus, if you have pale skin, this one will look better than plain black and white, I think... My basketball coach in high school used to call me "Snow White" because my skin is so fair, so I'm a pro at having to deal with "white girl" skin! ;)
ReplyDeleteI found mine at Athleta.com - they seem to have some really nice ones :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're willing to pay, I suggest looking at J Crew. I'm always so in love with their suits but refuse to pay that much money!!
ReplyDeleteDo you really only have one bikini at a time? I think I'd be embarassed to admit how many I own... I did get rid of a ton last summer, but it's still a little out of control. I guess that's what I get for growing up right near the beach?
