Smells Good!

Today has been a clean the house day. Sean is more of the cleaning guru in our house though. I'm more of the organizer.

We still need some more bookshelves and shelving, but that's nothing a trip to Ikea won't fix!

So a quick funny story for you guys. Both of my grandpas birthdays were yesterday. I called one of them and then decided to call my other grandpa when I got home from work. I called him three times and was puzzled why he didn't answer. This morning I talked to my mom and told her about trying to call and asked if grandpa had been home yesterday. She told me he had all day and then asked what number I dialed. Turns out I had one number wrong and that's why I didn't get ahold of him.

Talk about feeling stupid.....

I have a question for you out there. Do you guys feel like you have a strong sense of smell? I honestly think my sense of smell is stronger than other people. I walked down the aisle at the commissary that had coffee and I thought I was going to yak, it was that strong. This happens at other times, with other smells. No I am not pregnant, this is something that's been occuring for several years. However, it does make me wonder how smells will affect me when I actually am pregnant since I've heard that really increases your sense of smell.

So anyone else like me out there?

Oh..and I put this on my picture blog, but I wasn't sure how many of you check over there, so I thought I'd share it here too. Remember that infamous prengant stick figure sign I talked about awhile back? I got a picture of it today.

Ciao!

  1. That sign is too funny. About the smelling, I have the same thing in the coffee isle. You might have a sinus infection. I couldn't smell anything for a year and it was because I had a sinus infection and never realized it. So it could be that? Maybe lol.

  3. Hmm, well I don't know if I'm more sensitive to smell...but I smell everything. I know it sounds weird, but my friends and family will catch me smelling the weirdest things sometimes. I don't even know why I do it. That sign is too funny!

  5. What is that sign!?!? hahahahaha!

Have to say I also laughed outloud when you said "no I'm not PG" cause that was the first thing I thought!

Enjoy your Easter in Italyyyy. Random, but are you gonna go see the Pope?

  6. I have a ridiculously strong sense of smell, so much that massive amounts of smells either give me a headache or makes me sick. Yankee Candle? Bath and Body Works? Hollister? Can't do 'em. Can't even walk past the Hollister doorway in the mall. My friends (...oh so loving friends) make fun of me constantly, telling me how I'm ridiculously screwed when I'm pregnant. You are not alone haha.

  7. HAH, my first thought was pregnancy! That was my old coworker's #1 complaint while pregnant.

Oh and I'm totally an organizer too. The Container Store is one of my favorite places ever!

  8. LOVE.THE.SIGN. :)

I only have issues with strong smells during pregnancy. So much in fact that once we walked into a chinese restaurant, because I thought I wanted Chinese, but as soon as I stepped through the door I had to run out and puke in their bushes. Thank GOD it's not like that for me at other times. I'm sorry your nose is on over-drive! That has to be frustrating!

  9. the sign is funny..

I too have the "sense" of smell that drives me crazy sometimes.

I actually ALSO have a terrible gag reflex and I am know to dry heave at certain smells.

The worst for me is OLD LADIES, and moth balls... I can smell it a MILE away

  10. That is so funny that you mentioned this, Jon and I were just talking about my sense of smell! I have a SUPER strong sense of smell. I smell everything before I eat it. I can pick up most things in wine by smelling it. I thought I was weird or something, glad to know there are others like me out there.

Don't you just love Ikea, it's the best store ever!
Hope you guys have a great Easter weekend!

  11. I am a "smeller" too. Bath and body works can give me a really bad headache depending on the season and the types of smells emitting from the store. That was also my week spot during nursing. Blood didn't bother me, and I didn't care what bodily function you were experiencing as long as I couldn't smell it. Glad you got some organization and cleaning done around home!

    Happy Easter!

  13. Funny sign! I'm with Casey though....what's the first one?

I have a really strong sense of smell. Jon says I have a doggie nose. I smell things other people can't pick up. My mom tells me she has one kid that smells everything and one that can't smell anything at all (my brother). I hope it doesn't get worse when I'm pregnant!

  14. haha that sign is awesome. but what is up with the first stick figure guy?

i mean i get the "old people" and "pregnant women" have special parking, but the first stick figure looks like a big strong man?

i don't have a heightened sense of smell that i know of. but i do have a good ear... the first few times i'd visited the commissary here i heard this awful high pitched beeping. it gave me a headache by the time we left, but matt couldn't hear it. a few more trips and i finally figured it out-- they have a device that emits a high pitched beep to keep birds from flying inside. i guess only birds are supposed to be able to hear it, but GOSH i can hear it and it's awful!

  15. I have a keen sense of smell and I always smell weird things at weird times. It makes me worry that I'm having a stroke. Don't they say you smell phantom smells? Anyway, right now I swear it smells like dirty grass at my desk!
