GTL at Rutgers?

I'm sure many of you have seen in the news this week where Snooki from MTV's Jersey Shore was paid $32,000 to speak at Rutgers University.

Now, I'm the first to admit that sometimes I watch Jersey Shore. It's pretty much a trainwreck and sometimes I enjoy that trainwreck. However, I think the people on that show are ridiculous and have a lot of growing up to do. I'm just floored that a university would ask a reality tv "star" to speak to their students. I'm confused on what she could actually speak on. Tanning? Pickles? Her affinity for cheesy, steroid-using Italian-American men?

Sometimes when I hear stories like this, I really worry about the future of America. It seems like we keep getting dumber and putting stock in people that have no reason for being a celebrity other than they get drunk and make-out with people on camera.

Sunday Snippets

The weather here in Italy right now is FANASTIC! I'm talking sunny, 75 degree days with just a light breeze. I've been spending a lot of time out on our balcony tanning.

I've been having trouble sleeping for the past year. It normally takes me about 2 hours to get to sleep and then I don't sleep well. I think I'm finally going to go to the doctor and see if they can help explain what's going on. However, I do NOT just want to medicate myself in order to sleep better.

Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade. There are times when I feel like I should have been a teenager/20 something in the 70's. Everytime I watch the movie Dazed and Confused it just reinforces that fact.

I've been on a wine kick lately. Which kind of defeats the purpose of me going to the vineyard to try to build up our wine collection before we move. It should come to no surprise that I'm planning a trip to 2 vineyards this week.

I got my latest Forever 21 order in the other day. I cannot wait to wear the dress and jewelry I picked out!

Speaking of clothes, I'm bidding on this dress on Ebay right now:

I love that it has a vintage vibe. I think I'd feel like I was on the set of Mad Men if I wore it.

Giveaway! and MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

First things first, I wanted to let you all know that JG over at Me and My Solider Man is having a giveaway palooza over at her blog to celebrate two years of blogging. Today is the first day and the giveaway prize just happens to be 2 8x12 prints from my Etsy shop. Go check out JG's blog to find out more!

Now for the Friday Fill-In!

1.What romance movie scene reminds you of your s/o or spouse and the LOVE you share?
Anyone remember the scene in Walk the Line when June starts throwing bottles at Johnny and his friends who happen to be a bit drunk? Yeah...that's totally something I would do. There's a lot about that movie that reminds Sean and I of ourselves.

2.If you were allowed to deploy with your husband to a war zone would you and why?
No and the reason why is if I was there, I'm not sure he'd be able to concentrate on the job he has at hand. I wouldn't want him to feel like he had to protect me and thus not be able to do his job 100%.

3.Have you ever done anything (intentionally, or unintentionally) to embarrass your spouse/significant other in front of his military cohorts?
Are we talking away from work too? Because if so, then yes. There was one Halloween party where I was drunk tipsy and ended up laying on top of a table. I have no idea why or how that happened.

4.What is your most irrational fear?
I'm terrified of tripping on stairs and breaking my teeth on a step. Really weird and irrational I know.

5.If you could only live in one kind of climate for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
I'm sure a lot of people will say someplace like Hawaii, but honestly I have to have four seasons. It makes me appreciate each season when it finally rolls around.

Question of the Day

Because this map is making it's way all over the blogging world:

(Yes, this is my personal map)

I decided to do a Question of the Day around it.

Where is your favorite place/state that you've traveled in the United States? Make your answer as detailed as you want! I love hearing others' travel stories.

What I'm Loving

Just a short list of things currently on my Lovin' List.

1. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

I'd never heard of the group until I saw their performance on VH1 Divas Salute the Troops. I'm waiting until payday to buy a few albums of theirs on iTunes.

2. Coral Gardens Dress from Modcloth

I LOVE this dress and was so sad when I saw that it was out of stock. I'm praying it restocks soon so I can grab it up!

3. Buitoni Pasta (Frozen Meal)

I saw these at the commissary and every once in awhile when I'm lazy and forego eating Paleo I eat one. The chicken and mushroom ravioli is the best, but my tip is to forget the sauce. Just make your own, it's way better.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

Join in over at Wife of a Sailor!

1.What is your must have gadget?
My camera. I don't know what I'd do without it.

2.How does your adulthood compare to what you imagined it would be like when you were a little kid?
I thought I'd have a husband who was a combo of Ken/Prince Charming (not to say he isn't) Ha ha! And I thought I'd be a trapeze girl in the circus.

3.What is your favorite chocolate recipe?
My Mom makes fantastic Caramel bars that have chocolate in them. I'd post the recipe, but I'm not sure I actually have it.

4.How do you deal with military life when it gets to be to much or to hard?
I call my best friend. Even though she's not military, she's so understanding and she gives me the best advice. Sometimes I drink copious amounts of wine too, that always helps.

5.What piece of advice would you give a new Military spouse facing their first deployment?
Don't fight about small things, be independent and make some goals for yourself. That always makes a deployment easier/better in my opinion!

On The Radio

On Italian radio we get quite a mish-mash of current hits along with Italian favorites and obscure songs I've never heard of in my life.

First up?

Rebecca Black- "Friday"

I'm sorry, but this song AND video are awful. I feel bad for the girl, because the comments are downright mean on YouTube, but how this song even got made, I don't know. If you thought Ke$ha lyrics were badly written, you should listen to this song.

Maroon 5- "Pure Imagination"

I heard this for the first time today. I couldn't figure out who was singing this remixed version of the song from the movie Willie Wonka, but I found out it was Maroon 5. Odd.

Fabri Fibra- "Tranne Te" (Except You)

This is my favorite Italian song right now. It's so catchy! Basically the song title is "Except You" and although I can make out most of the lyrics, I don't know them enough to really explain the concept. Love the beat though!

Jimmy Bo Horne- "Spank"
Last, but not least, I heard this little gem leftover from the disco era several weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy disco, but this song? Not so much.

I'd really like to know who decided this song would be a great one to make.
